Democrat to Introduce "Paid Vacation Act" AKA "Let's Have the French Economy" Act

When I saw this hit Drudge's Twitter feed, I had to check it out... Apparently, the Democrats aren't done wrecking our economy and now want to force small businesses to give away free vacations.

From the Politico piece:
Rep. Alan Grayson was standing in the middle of Disney World when it hit him: What Americans really need is a week of paid vacation.

So on Thursday, the Florida Democrat will introduce the Paid Vacation Act — legislation that would be the first to make paid vacation time a requirement under federal law.

The bill would require companies with more than 100 employees to offer a week of paid vacation for both full-time and part-time employees after they’ve put in a year on the job. Three years after the effective date of the law, those same companies would be required to provide two weeks of paid vacation, and companies with 50 or more employees would have to provide one week.
The laugher comes in what this guy thinks the legislation will do...
The idea: More vacation will stimulate the economy through fewer sick days, better productivity and happier employees.

“There’s a reason why Disney World is the happiest place on Earth: The people who go there are on vacation,” said Grayson, a freshman who counts Orlando as part of his home district. “Honestly, as much as I appreciate this job and as much as I enjoy it, the best days of my life are and always have been the days I’m on vacation.”
Puh-leeze... Yes...the ecomy will get stronger if we all just take a vacation......

And who is going to pay for all of this vacation time, you might ask? That's right...all this economy stimulating through taking time off will raise prices on just about everything. Inflation is FUN!

Just another unfunded mandate to kill jobs and our economy from the folks who want to turn us in to France: the Democrats.

Oh, the France bit...
One more if-you’re-reading-this-then-you’re-probably-not-on-vacation fact: The United States is dead last among 21 industrial countries when it comes to mandatory R&R.

France currently requires employers to provide 30 days of paid leave.
We all want to be like France...right? Uhh...no.

More Evidence French Frogs Not Our Friends, Conspiracy Nutjobs

If the new French president was truly an ally of the US or honorable, he would fire this dumb frog b***h who joined the 9/11 conspiracy chorus.
A senior French politician, now a minister in President Nicolas Sarkozy's government, suggested last year that U.S. President George W. Bush might have been behind the September 11, 2001 attacks, according to a website.
The www.ReOpen911.info website, which promotes September 11 conspiracy theories, has posted a video clip of French Housing Minister Christine Boutin appearing to question that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda group orchestrated the attacks. Boutin's office sought to play down the remarks.

Asked in an interview last November, before she became minister, whether she thought Bush might be behind the attacks, Boutin says: "I think it is possible. I think it is possible."

Do you know what is certain, not just possible? That France gave Iraq money when it was illegal as adjudicated by the UN, and gave them illegal weapons. We have the books and transactions. Even as the Kurds were slaughtered, France gave Hussein money and weapons. We have uncovered the info in Iraq. That is not just possible, it is fact!
And this is beyond badmouthing Bush. Call him a buffoon, call him an idiot. This is badmouthing the US, making light of the sacrifice of thousands. The reopen 9/11 pepole are some of the same people who said no one died in the planes that crashed into the towers or in the field or at the Pentagon. And this stupid frog wench joined their chorus? France is not our friend, as long as these ungreatful cowards continue to crow in this manner.
So kindly piss off, madam Minister.

France Gets One Right

From the Guardian:
France's highest court Tuesday rejected as unlawful the first marriage by a gay couple in France, annulling the union of the two men.

Stephane Charpin and Bertrand Charpentier were married in a civil ceremony on June 5, 2004, in Begles, a town in the southwest Bordeaux region. The government immediately said the union was outside the law, and a series of court decisions unfavorable to the couple followed.

In the latest decision, the court ruled that "under French law, marriage is a union between a man and a woman," backing a 2005 decision by an appeals court in Bordeaux.
There may yet be some hope for France...
Prosecutor Marc Domingo said during an earlier court hearing that it was the parliament, not judges, who should have the final word in any legalization of marriages involving homosexual couples.
I've heard something similar...where have I heard that before???
