Spain's 9/11
From Yahoo News:A letter purporting to come from Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network claimed responsibility for train bombings in Spain on Thursday, calling them strikes against "crusaders," a London-based Arabic newspaper said.
The Spanish government has said Basque separatists were the main suspect in the bombings of four trains early on Thursday that killed 190 people.
But the country's interior minister held open the possibility of a militant Islamist link on Thursday evening when he told a newspaper conference that a suspect van had been found containing detonators and an Arabic-language tape. He said, however, militant Basque separatists remained chief suspects.
The London-based al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper faxed to Reuters' Dubai bureau a copy of a letter purporting to come from the "Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades." The group aligns itself to al Qaeda, blamed by Washington for September 2001 attacks on the United States.
"We have succeeded in infiltrating the heart of crusader Europe and struck one of the bases of the crusader alliance," said the letter which called the attacks "Operation Death Trains."
There was no way of authenticating the letter.
Matt's Chat
I remember hearing from some hamster running for president saying something about the threat of terrorism being overstated. Who was that again?Mark's Remarks
Let me be blunt: if John Kerry wins the White House, get used to seeing this carnage on a regular basis in America and where her interests are involved. Want proof? Look at the years following WTC bombing in 1993. Embassies bombed in the Middle East and Africa. The USS Cole, and finally, 9/11. John Kerry has one of the most blatantly inconsistent ideas for dealing with terrorism, calling it a legal issue to be dealt with by law enforcement. It is not a legal issue when a group declares war/jihad on you and is bent on killing as many of your citizens as it can. It is a matter of WAR!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Bush's SUCCESS in fighting terrorists in their backyards has made liberals pounce on the illusion that the war is over, or that there is no threat. Look at Madrid today. I have an old high school friend who was a foreign exchange student who lived in Madrid. I hope she is ok. Ask the Spanish about terrorism. Ask them if appeasement and law enforcement is the right answer. Better yet, ask the much larger majority of NYPD/FD workers who were at 9/11 or the majority of families who lost people on that day, and they will tell you: we have the right man in place.
Please do not return us to the time of blind eye to terror, only for domestic social experimentation at home. John Kerry has shown he wants to blind our intelligence, voting for a huge cut in spending that even his fellow Democrats blasted as irresponsible. He has waffled and has shown no backbone on any substantive issue. He is nothing but a huckster and a panderer. Do you want that leading the free world in the perilous times we live in, demonstrated today in Spain? I think not.
