OH-16: ABJ Endorses Kirk Schuring

One of the races that I have been following fairly closely is the Republican primary for the OH-16 seat being vacated by Rep. Regula. Today, the Akron Beacon Journal endorsed Kirk Schuring in this editorial.
We recommend the election of Kirk Schuring on March 4.

Schuring, 55, is serving his second, four-year term in the Ohio Senate. He spent the previous decade in the Ohio House. What Schuring offers is a moderate, pragmatic style. He works effectively with diverse interests. Among his accomplishments is legislation that expanded statewide the use of joint economic development districts. He has developed a plan for school funding that invites serious conversation. He would carve out a separate education budget.

In this race, Schuring correctly stresses the key role that education and technology must play in turning around the economy. He envisions a national strategy that would provide incentives for regions to build on existing strengths.
Schuring has received widespread and vast support from virtually every corner of the district.

We should have our side-by-side issue comparison between candidates Matt Miller and Kirk Schuring later this week...
