In Memory: Marge Schott

The former embattled owner of the Reds, Marge Schott, died today from a prolonged illness. She was 75 years old. Often Controversial, always colorful, Mrs. Schott brought the Reds their last championship in 1990.

Mark's Remarks

I did a piece about Mrs. Schott over at MarksRemarks. While I did not always agree with her statements, she cared about the fans. She cared about the Reds. While under her tenure, the Reds consistently battled for pennants, winning it all in 1990. She did this while keeping ticket prices the lowest in the league, and giving fans more bang for the buck. If only the new owners had her desire, maybe the Reds would be in a better place. Godspeed, Marge, we loved ya, babe.
