Homeland Security Update

From NewsMax:
A man who authorities believe might have been part of an al-Qaida "sleeper cell" obtained a license to haul hazardous materials months after he was identified as a suspected terrorist by the FBI, officials said.

The FBI identified Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi as a suspected terrorist before the attacks of 2001, the Star Tribune reported Wednesday, citing unidentified law enforcement officials.

From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:
Customs agents at six U.S. airports are being asked to look out for travelers from Pakistan with indications that they might have been to terrorist training camps in that country.

A Homeland Security Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Tuesday that the agents were told to look for such physical evidence as rope burns, unusual bruises, wounds and scars - things that indicated recent participation in paramilitary training.

"There is no hard intelligence connecting the camps to a threat against the United States," the official said.

From CitizenVoice.com:
Federal and state authorities reported Tuesday that several men of Middle Eastern descent were driving around the Berwick and Shickshinny areas Tuesday looking for the nuclear power plant in Salem Township.

The five men, four from Bangladesh and another of Pakistani descent, were reportedly seen at the Delaware Water Gap rest area along Interstate 80 around 8:20 a.m. They were also spotted in Bloomsburg, Columbia County.

State police said they were asking directions to the river near the plant because they wanted to go fishing. Their minivan was pulled over by state police in Shickshinny around 11 a.m. on U.S. Route 11 in Salem Township, four miles south of the Susquehanna Steam and Electric Power Plant.

Mark's Remarks

And what would be REALLY GREAT would be if we had a COMMISSION THAT ACTUALLY LOOKED INTO IMPROVING THREAT INTELLIGENCE INSTEAD OF TAKING THE OPPORTUNITY TO REWRITE HISTORY OR TO GRANDSTAND OR TO POLITICIZE THE SITUATION FOR A BUDDY'S GAIN, WOULDN'T THAT BE FREAKIN' GREAT?!? YOU KNOW, LIKE SO WE CAN HAVE BETTER INTELLIGENCE AND BE SAFER, YA DIG?
