French President Jacques Chirac, confirming Yasser Arafat's death, has hailed the Palestinian leader as a man of courage and conviction who embodied the Palestinian struggle for a state.Well, Jack, now with Arafat DEAD, maybe peace will break out there... Arafat was the major stumbling block. Don't forget, Israel offered him everything he asked for and he refused because he wanted to wipe Israel off the map. [sarcasm]That's worthy of a Nobel "Peace" Prize if you ask me....[/sarcasm]
"It is with emotion that I have just learnt of the death of President Yasser Arafat, the first elected president of the Palestinian Authority," Chirac said in a written statement on Thursday. "I offer my very sincere condolences to his family and to people close to him."
Chirac urged the international community to persevere with efforts to ensure an international peace plan known as the road map is put into effect in the Middle East.
I'll be drinking a tall cold one tonight while Arafat burns in Hell...
