Immigration Madness

From the Washington Times:
President Bush yesterday moved aggressively to resurrect his plan to relax rules against illegal immigration, a move bound to anger conservatives just days after they helped re-elect him.

The president met privately in the Oval Office with Sen. John McCain to discuss jump-starting a stalled White House initiative that would grant legal status to millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States.

The Arizona Republican is one of the Senate's most outspoken supporters of expanding guest-worker programs and has introduced his own bill to offer a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Well, folks, we all said there were things we didn't like about this President. This is it. I don't know what happened to "law and order" Republicans, but it appears Bush and McCain aren't part of that group...

I really don't have a problem with starting a new program for legal immigrants/guest workers. I do hae a problem with granting any kind of amnesty to people who broke the law in coming here. They do not deserve special treatment. They deserve to be punished as the criminals that they are... Hey, I didn't make the law, but I do think it is a good idea to, you know, enforce it. At least every once in awhile.
