Rogers said her office conducted an initial investigation into the matter. Were these witnesses under oath? It doesn't look like it.
"These are obvious violations, whether the meetings were held 'off the clock' or not," Rogers said.
"And, there is conflicting information with commissioner Furmon's statements that these meetings were 'off the clock' from the statements of others who attended the meetings, which raises concerns about commissioner Furmon's honesty as far as his willingness to fully admit his transgressions on this matter."
Rogers said she talked to several employees who attended the meetings, and some said they were required to attend. She said using the records center after hours gave them unsupervised access to sensitive information.
Who are these people she queried? Doesn't Chuck Furmon have a right to face his accusers?
Is this the sort of investigation that the county auditor is charged with undertaking as part of her duties?
And why wait until now?
This is looking more and more like a bunch of Rawnicans went to go see their buddy Kay in order to manufacture a controversy where there was none...in other words, prosecutor Robin Piper was right when he first described this witchhunt as "politics."
