Another Weekend Update

Al Qaeda Suspects Among Those Captured

Some very interesting numbers are being reported by the Dallas Morning News...

Matt's Chat

It takes the author awhile to get there, but the big news is that DESPITE these guys being a nuisance, 8000 reconstruction projects have been completed in Iraq thus far. Our guys have rebuilt schools, constructed roads, and restored utilities. These guys are blowing stuff up. Who really has the best interests of Iraq and the Iraqis in mind?

Mark's Remarks

Yes, we have built hospitals, states are contributing to schools, and soldiers are training the new Iraqi army. I guess this is what quagmire looks like, eh, Mr. Daschle? What we need are the other countries to quit talking about wanting what is best for Iraq and DO SOMETHING about it. You missed the first boat, jump on this one. No one criticized the MASSIVE amount of spending for the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after WWII. Rebuilding Iraq in this region is no less important. And, the fact we are capturing more of these rifraff should speak to something.

Controversial Bake Sale Shut Down In Less Than An Hour

"We thought it would be a good idea just because we were trying to raise awareness of affirmative action," said David Rushing, chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas on ABCNEWS' Good Morning America

Matt's Chat

This was a very STUPID idea. The affirmative action issue is complex and no amount of "simplification" is going to make it easier for anybody to understand it. It was the wrong approach executed with the wrong ideas. As an aside, I'm curious, just where was the ACLU instead of fighting for these people rights to free speech though?

Mark's Remarks

People like this sometimes make me angry they use the calling conservative. It brings a bad name to those of us who have some common sense, and that is the great majority of us, who do not claim to have a song sung to us 25 years before it was created (Algore), or who claim to have created the Internet (Algore again). This was a stupid idea, to express a very good argument about Affirmative Action in that it may have overstepped its bounds and original intents. Very dumb move, boys. As far as the ACLU, if you are not targeting God or the American Flag, they really do not care.
