OH-03: Jane Misleads Again

In a release about an internal poll reported on by PolitickerOH's David DeWitt, Team Jane says this:
"The desire for change is palpable, evident not only from Turner's weak job performance ratings, but also from voters' plainly stated desires to see a Democrat elected to Congress," said Lake. "In a generic trial heat the Democratic candidate leads the Republican candidate in this district by 4 percentage points, 43 percent to 39 percent."
Of course, their internal poll has a margin of error that weighs in at a whopping 4.9 points...and they are touting the generic poll. What happens when names get attached to those choices, Jane? I'd love to see the demographics on that Stupid Poll to see how badly oversampled liberals are...

And this bit is hilarious:
Meanwhile, the release touted Mitakides' fundraising of $321,264 raised this year to date and $130,000 cash-on-hand. The release points out that 70 percent of funds raised came from within the district.

"We're seeing a real groundswell of support," Mitakides said. "Voters are discovering the great opportunity we have to turn Ohio's Third District blue."
Jane, a simple check of your filings show that 45% of what you have received came from...YOU! Some groundswell, eh? Throw in another $10,000+ from folks with the last name of...Mitakides...and I have to admit, I'm impressed with the groundswell of support! I am also amazed by the collection of attorneys who are the bigger contributors to her campaign and don't appear to be from the district at all...

OH-03: Team Jane's New Campaign Slogan is "Increasing our Carbon Footprint One Gallon at a Time!"

In what is supposed to be a campaign first, Jane Mitakides claims that her campaign is carbon neutral. Something tells me that Jane is having some difficulty keeping that pledge...

This is the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck, that Team Jane took to the Festival of the Bells parade in Hillsboro, OH last week. Quite a beauty, eh? Let's have some stats on that big boy, shall we?

15: miles per gallon -- at best.
12: tons of carbon emitted annually
0: EPA Air Pollution Score -- it just doesn't get any worse than that!

Those are some super-serious numbers for a vehicle whose purpose is to drive around a campaign sign...

Dems Pick Jane; Lehner Has Dem Opponent

Before I forget, I wanted to mention that the Dayton Daily News has reported that the Montgomery County Democrats have decided on who is going to lose in the OH-03 race against Mike Turner. Their sacrificial lamb, back for her second skewering, is none other than Jane Mitakides. It is exactly for this reason that I didn't close down Gem City Journal...we still have plenty of time to take a few strolls down memory lane.

That same article had a throw away sentence at the end that told us who WMDtv guest Peggy Lehner will be squaring off against in the 37th District Ohio House race..."party activist" Andrea Eveslage of Dayton gets the nod.

OH-03 Update: Dems Snub Jane

Here is an interesting update on two potential challengers to my mayor, Rep. Mike Turner, from DaytonOS:
It seems that Jane Mitakides has hurt someone’s feelings. That someone evidently has a huge ego.

Mitakides appeared before the Montgomery County Democratic Party Central Committee last night and asked for their endorsement to run for the DEM nomination in the Ohio 3rd Congressional District.

The response from the political power brokers was to hold off on an endorsement until other candidates had a chance to come forward.

Other candidates?

Who are they kidding. There are no other candidates. At least there wasn’t at the time of last night’s meeting.

Maybe the DEMS will endorse David Esrati, he has just announced his candidacy. Although Esrati doesn’t toe the party line any more than Mitakides.
Esrati shows up in the comments and blathers on about how Turner has been a rubber stamp for Bush and yada, yada, yada...which is incredibly funny seeing as I've actually been rather disappointed in my mayor more than a few times since he went to Dee Cee. I guess that all depends on your perspective...

Anyway, it appears, to this analyst anyway, that the Democrats in Montgomery county are having difficulty in settling in on a candidate to take on Turner. I covered Jane fairly extensively over at Gem City Journal when she ran against Turner the last time. She is pretty much a socialist and an elitist as I recall and not at all representative of the district.

As bad as the Republicans are in Montgomery County, their saving grace has always been that the Democrats are usually worse off...sounds like things haven't changed all that much, really...
