Democrat/Liberal Jobs Plans: Pay People to Protest Romney

The protesters popping up at Mitt Romney's rallies throughout Michigan Tuesday look like run-of-the-mill grassroots liberals — they wave signs about "the 99 percent," they chant about the Republican's greed, and they describe themselves as a loosely organized coalition of "concerned citizens."

They're also getting paid, two of the protesters and an Obama campaign official told BuzzFeed.

At the candidate's afternoon stop outside a bakery in DeWitt, a group of about 15 protesters stood behind a police barricade, a few of them chanting in support of Obama. Asked why he was protesting, a man dressed in a grim reaper costume pointed a reporter to a pair of "designated representatives" standing in the shade.

"I can't talk, you gotta get one of those people over there to talk to y'all," he said. "They're the ones who can talk to reporters."

Neither of the representatives agreed to give their names, but two protesters said they were getting paid to stand outside of the rally, though their wage is unclear: one said she was getting $7.25 per hour, while another man said they were being paid $17 per hour.

We won't find you jobs in the private sector, but you can work as official government protestors....give me a flippin' break....

Obama Voter Drive: Dead Dog Receives Voter Registration

When Tim Morris got his mail last week he found a pretty big surprise, a document asking his dog Mozart to register to vote.

Not only is Mozart a dog but he's been dead for two years.

"I opened it up and looked at it and I just laughed," Morris said. "I thought it was a joke at first and it turns out it's real."

The form is addressed to Mo, the family's nickname for the dog.

What amazed Morris is that if Mozart was human he would have been eligible to vote for the first time in 2012.

"He would have been 19 years old this year and he passed away two years ago," he said. "I still have no earthly idea how they got his information."

10 On Your Side looked deeper and found that the voter registration forms were sent by the non-profit Voter Participation Center, not the State Board of Elections.

So we contacted the Voter Participation Center and found that they purchase mailing lists from vendors and while they do try and check every name the organization admits that some do fall through the cracks.

The voter registration efforts are focused on groups like young people, minorities, and unmarried women.

Guess which side the Voter Participation Center is on? Guess which ideology they support? Guess who they are partnered with? From Disrupt the Narrative:

It appeared to come from the Virginia State Board of Elections, but upon further investigation it actually came from the Voter Participation Center, which is a partner organization with the George Soros funded Center for American Progress and both groups have direct ties to the Obama White House. It started out as part of the Tides Foundation. Looking at the biographies on these sites show lots of people with ties to the Obama and Clinton Administrations, and is part of the Democrats’ criminal syndicate. The VPC also focuses on educating policymakers and media on issues impacting what it calls the “rising American electorate”, including a series of reports produced in March 2010, in partnership with the Center for American Progress.

I wonder if this type of canine zombie registration is going on elsewhere? Is Obama trying to register the dogs he has eaten?

Greenpeace Targets Ohio (and Virginia) Jobs

Greenpeace is now targeting jobs right here in Ohio (and Virginia too, but we'll get to that in a moment). You might be thinking just what does Mercury Paper and Asia Pulp and Paper Products has to do with jobs in Ohio (and Virginia), the connection is Kroger.

We Are Ohio=Liars Club on Issue 2

The We Are Ohio Gang are full of misrepresentations and obfuscations. Here are some of the latest examples. First we have even the Cleveland Plain Dealer calling Shenanigans:

Rather than talking about what the law actually does, like a broken record We Are Ohio continues to rely on exaggerations, distortions and class warfare.


From the ad, you’d think Ohio’s elected leaders made sure they didn’t have the same health care and pension contribution requirements as they ask of everyone else.

Except Politifact states:

As for benefits, state lawmakers already pay health insurance costs and contribute toward their pension in line with SB 5’s provisions. Medical coverage rates and required pension fund contributions for lawmakers mirror those of unionized state workers. Therefore, they typically pay at least 15 percent of their medical insurance premiums and, if enrolled, must contribute 10 percent of their salary to the retirement system.


Don’t let We Are Ohio win just because they yell the loudest.

And then, we have also heard the talk about how nurses are going to be cut and "not be able to negotiate for more"...Child please. Again, from politifact Ohio, not exactly right leaning:

The commercial, which began airing on Sept. 27, raises questions about how SB 5 impacts nurses – a group of workers less commonly associated with SB 5 than others, such as police officers and teachers. PolitiFact Ohio decided to check the ad’s claim.

We started by checking how many nurses belong to public unions and, therefore, will be affected by SB 5.

There are about 160,000 registered nurses in the state and between 6,000 and 10,000 of those are public employees, according to the Ohio Nurses Association. That means SB 5 would affect between 4 percent and 6.25 percent of Ohio nurses.

The Ohio Nurses Association represents about 3,000 public-sector nurses, chief executive officer Gingy Harshey-Meade said. The Ohio Civil Service Employees Association and the Service Employees International Union also represent Ohio nurses. These nurses work at places such as prisons, city or county hospitals and public health departments.

When the nurse in the commercial says the new law will make it harder for nurses to provide care, the following text appears on the screen: "Source: Senate Bill 5; p229, Section 4117.08 (B)."

That section of the law specifies a handful of subjects that cannot be collectively bargained. Among those topics is "the number of employees required to be on duty or employed in any department."

In an email, We Are Ohio spokeswoman Melissa Fazekas said the restriction on bargaining staffing relates to patient care because "it is more difficult for a nurse to provide quality care when he/she is working short-staffed."

Jason Mauk, spokesman for the pro-SB 5 group Building a Better Ohio, sought to minimize the idea that SB 5 bans workers from negotiating staffing. He said management can discuss the issue if it chooses. As evidence, he has pointed to a different provision in SB 5 that lists "the number of persons required to be employed or laid off" under topics that can be negotiated at management’s discretion.

It is unclear how this provision would mesh with the ban cited in We Are Ohio’s commercials about nurses and firefighters. Certainly, however, management has no obligation to discuss staffing and unions do not have the right to collectively bargain the issue.

The current collective bargaining agreement that covers Turner, the nurse featured in the commercial, gives some insight into how SB 5 would affect nurses working conditions.

Turner, who works at the Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital, is represented by the Ohio Nurses Association. The union’s contract with the university contains a clause that gives management the right to set staffing levels.

ONA’s contract with OSU says management has the right "to determine staffing and staffing patterns including, but not limited to the assignment of nurses as to the numbers employed, duties to be performed, qualifications required, and areas worked."

That sounds a lot like the rule that SB 5 would impose.
there are some critical facts on which the ad is silent.

First, it is impossible to say whether public employers will cut nursing staffs. The ad assumes that with staffing non-negotiable, management will cut staffs or not provide adequate staffing to a point that it will have an impact on the quality of care.

That’s where this claim differs from the claim in the previous ad involving firefighters, which specifically focused on the inability to bargain over staffing. This claim goes one step further, saying it will make patient care harder to provide.

Even more significantly, though, the commercial makes no distinction between nurses who are public employees and those who are non-public employees, and as such implies all nurses will suffer if Issue 2 passes. But only a tiny fraction of Ohio nurses are public employees - just four to six of every 100.

A listener knowing those critical facts would have a different impression of the claim.

On the Truth-O-Meter, the claim rates Mostly False.

Let's discuss more about the nursing thing. From the Toledo Blade:

Opponents to Issue 2 claim that SB5, which would be repealed if Issue 2 fails, will cause harm to nurses. Quoting from the We are Ohio website, http://action.weareohio.com/page/s/issue2primer:

“Issue 2 will make our nursing shortage worse. It makes it illegal for nurses, hospital and clinic workers to demand reasonable and safe staffing levels—so nurses will juggle more patients while their salaries and benefits are cut.”

This claim is also made in a We are Ohio television ad.

The Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) summarizes their position against Issue 2 as follows:

(SB5) . . . would strip public workers of their rights to collectively bargain for fair and equitable workplace conditions. For nurses, it’s a matter of life or death (emphasis theirs) Collective bargaining allows us to advocate for protections that directly affect patient safety and care. This includes making sure nurses aren’t assigned to too many patients at once or forced to work long, overtime hours that lead to burnt (sic) out and injury, and make them unable to effectively care for patients (from http://www.nfn.org/archives/1559).

Like We are Ohio’s site, both this ONA site and the one detailing ONA’s arguments (see http://www.nursesrepealsb5.org/know-the-facts.html) are rich in talking points but devoid of supporting evidence. Given the total failure of the opposition to back up their claims with citations from SB5, we can only search the text of the law and guess at what the opponents are referring to.

After ruling out any other rational possibilities from the results of my search of the text, what apparently has the opponents exercised is Sec. 339.07 (B). This section states that the administrators of county hospitals “shall ensure that the hospital has such physicians, nurses, and other employees as are necessary for the proper care, control, and management of the county hospital and its patients.” This is repeated in Sec. 749.083 (B) in the context of non-profit hospitals.

Based on this evidence from SB5 itself, the arguments made by We are Ohio and the ONA are illogical and flawed. They claim that SB5 will result in unsafe and unreasonable staffing levels in hospitals. But the language of the bill flatly contradicts this claim, unless one is willing to believe that hospital administrators are inherently so incompetent that they are incapable of fulfilling the law’s requirement to provide proper staffing.

Moreover, this argument is also based on deceit. As noted in the Columbus Dispatch’s Campaign Ad Watch analysis of the aforementioned TV ad, nurses do not have the right to negotiate staffing levels. The Dispatch notes that, under current law, nurses’ committees can suggest staffing levels to hospitals, but the levels are not subject to collective bargaining. SB5 not only does not mandate staffing levels for nurses, as opponents suggest; it also does not change current law regarding negotiation of staffing levels. (Neither does SB5 cut salaries and benefits, nor does it restrict or ban collective bargaining; but those are broader topics for later discussions.)

The intent of this argument against SB5 is not to inform, but to induce panic among the uninformed. Please, do not take the opponents at their word. Neither do I want you to take me at mine. Do what I did: Study the bill for yourself and see what it says. SB5′s text is at http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/BillText129/129_SB_5_EN_N.pdf, and it’s fully searchable.

I am Ohio, and so is every Ohioan who favors Issue 2.

So, as we can see, We Are Ohio is lying again. But wait, they even go after the Governor, John Kasich. However, Tom Blumer of Bizzyblog is there to prove they are perverting the truth, again! Here are some excerpts:

Here is the relevant text from the source identified in the ad:

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in August, up slightly from 9.0 percent in July, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment decreased 700 over the month, from the revised 5,117,200 in July to 5,116,500 in August.


In fact, Ohio’s economy added seasonally adjusted jobs in January, and continued to add jobs each and every month through July, until losing a “whopping” 700 in August. So far this year, the state’s economy has added 82,300 jobs, the sixth-best performance in the entire nation in terms of percentage of workforce growth. That’s in stark contrast to the 425,000 jobs Ohio’s economy lost during 2007-2009, and the paltry 31,000 it picked up during 2010.

There is no record of “continued job losses” since John Kasich took office. The above statement in the linked anti-Issue 2 ad is a lie.

Sadly, this is one of many self-evident lies, misleading statements and deceptions in the ad, as seen in the follow analysis of its script (referencing screen graphics where necessary):

John Kasich promised to make Ohio great again. [1] But he gave over $100 million of our tax dollars to big corporations. [2] Meanwhile, Ohio continues to lose jobs. [3]

Now Kasich is using Senate Bill 5 to destroy collective-bargaining rights [4] for Ohio workers. [5] (with an on-screen reference to SB5, page 229, 4117.08)

Kasich and other politicians took over $3 million in campaign contributions from corporate special interests [6] who could profit from Senate Bill 5. (on-screen graphic reads “profit from Senate Bill 5″) [7]

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can stop Senate Bill 5 by voting “No” on Issue 2.

Notes:

[1] — Well, over 80,000 jobs added is a start towards “making Ohio great again.” What we’ve seen through August of this year beats the heck out of any full year Ohio has seen since 1999.
[2] — Show me the checks, guys. If you want to argue that Kasich and the state agreed to $100 million in tax breaks, fine. But that’s not what the ad says. It says he GAVE them $100 million in the recent past. It hasn’t happened as described. Therefore, this statement in the ad is a lie.
[3] — This statement has already been shown to be a lie.
[4] — SB5 does not (as implied) “destroy (all) collective-bargaining rights.” Specifically, “All matters pertaining to wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment are subject to collective bargaining between the public employer and the exclusive representative, except as otherwise specified …” After that, numerous items are listed as exceptions, but there are still items subject to collective bargaining. Thus, this portion of the statement is extremely misleading.
[5] — Then there is the reference to “Ohio workers.” The implication is that SB5 affects all Ohio workers. It doesn’t. It only affects unionized Ohio state, county, municipal, and school-district public-sector employees. It does not affect private-sector workers. This portion of the statement is also extremely misleading.
[6] — “And other politicians”? What other politicians? Lefties? Righties? Indies? This is a deliberately inflammatory non-statement which communicates absolutely nothing of substance.
[7] — “Could profit”? Could? Wow, that’s powerful (/sarc). It’s closer to the truth to assert that the vast majority of Ohioans will probably be better off if Senate Bill 5 stays in place, because taxes won’t have to go up, more resources can be dedicated to Ohio’s classrooms, and government entities will have the flexibility to do what they must to keep their costs under control. Note that the gutless graphic omits the word “could,” presumably in the hope that viewers won’t realize how deliberately misleading this statement is.

The ad demonstrates that the WeAreOhio.org folks believe that they can’t win without lying to, misleading and deceiving Ohioans at every step of the way.

Why would such an organization work so much in lies? Well, considering they just give general references to some page in SB5, hoping you don't read it, we see one explanation. They think you are stupid. But, let's follow the money and see who is funding this misrepresentation. From Third Base Politics, we see that union bosses in Washington DC are the lead funders of We Are Ohio, as well as the Union Heads of Ohio unions. Gee, could we be desperate that another Wisconsin could be in the making? So desperate we are going to lie to the people of Ohio? You betcha. Check out the blog post with videos from 3BP.

Quit lying to protect your own skins, people. I thought it was about serving and protecting and educating, not lying to save yourselves.

ProgressOhio's Self-Promotional Criticisms Represent Height of Hypocrisy

Columbus - Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine released the following statement today in response to ProgressOhio's misleading press conference:

"Leave it to the liberal extremists at ProgressOhio to question the necessity and importance of job creation in Ohio," Chairman DeWine said.

"Where were their calls for transparency when labor unions funneled $10.6 million toward Ted Strickland while he issued executive orders mandating union membership expansion? Instead of holding misleading press conferences which only serve to vilify job creators, ProgressOhio should put their money where their mouth is. They should immediately open their books and disclose all of the money they have received from organizations which oppose the reasonable reforms of State Issue 2."

Why Do Democrats Want to Kill the Old and Unborn: Al Gore

First it was Barack Obama and Dr. Zeke Emmanuel with the death panels. Well, I guess since his whole global warming cash cow has proved to be a hoax, snake oil salesman and former VP Al Gore thinks women should kill more babies. In fact, maybe we should have birth panels. I mean, it is just a natural extension of what Al is saying here:

“One of the things we could do about it is to change the technologies, to put out less of this pollution, to stabilize the population, and one of the principle ways of doing that is to empower and educate girls and women,” Gore said. “You have to have ubiquitous availability of fertility management so women can choose how many children have, the spacing of the children.

“You have to lift child survival rates so that parents feel comfortable having small families and most important — you have to educate girls and empower women,” he said. “And that’s the most powerful leveraging factor, and when that happens, then the population begins to stabilize and societies begin to make better choices and more balanced choices.”

Notice how he puts the entire onus on the women. Look out girls, horny Al and Big Bubba Clinton are coming to party and you better know about the abortion pill and all that other stuff because it is up to you, not up to the man at all, but just up to you, and if you get pregnant, then YOU are killing mutha earf. And mutha earf can't stand anymore babies. Maybe we should be limited to just two. Hmm...I have heard this somewhere before. And I know, with all the prenatal testing, if we have a trait we don't like, we can just flush the fetus anyway, right Al? Gee, this is sounding more and more familiar. I wonder if Al was wearing liederhosen while talking about this?

And besides, the overpopulation nonsense has been disproven years ago. The only way we run out of food is through believing the previous hoax of global warming and turning all our food into ethanol.

What is it with the Left? They want to decide when old people should die and whether pre-born people should be delivered? Who died and made them god?

Liberal Bloggers Think Fed Employee Pay Freeze is a Crime

...but they want "Tax Cheat Tim" Geithner and the Administration to regulate the pay of private workers at corporations? Why is that? I thought that lefties were all about the little guy, about the downtrodden, not about the richest of federal employees. Don Surber has the details, and this salient point about who Lefty Bloggers really care about:

They do not like the freeze. They do not say why. They simply want federal employees to get more money, more money and more money.

One reason is that lefty bloggers serve a federal employee audience. Wonkette showed the Statue of Liberty crying. Yes, liberty is all about continuing COLA raises for people who already receive double the average pay and fringe wages of the American worker. The American Left today is so Establishment that it is scary. The bomb throwers now teach at the universities. It should frighten us.

So they have a pecuniary interest in all this, either as federal workers themselves or as sellers of ads to the people who see federal workers as customers.

The other reason is anger at the November 2 election. They do not want to admit that Obamacare stank at the polls. Not Obama. Most Americans still like him and he polls above 40%. Americans just do not like the socialism in his policies.

So by smacking this idea down, lefties get to use Obama as the whipping boy for their policies. They cannot admit how awful Obamacare is — or what a colossal failure the stimulus is.

And, we are not talking about cutting pay. To wit:

They still get step increases. They still get plenty of holidays. They still get lifetime job security. And they still get fringe benefits to die for.

Fed employees still have it cushy compared to those in the private sector. However, that is not enough for lefties who hope to get federal jobs. They want more more more! Who are the selfish b@$t@#ds now?

Michael Moore is Right--We Should Follow Canada's Example..

Yes, you read that right. I didn't mistype. Michael Moore, fat idiotarian fakeumentarian, is absolutely right. We need to follow Canada's example. They have shown the way for years and we have not listend.

Now, before you revoke my Reagan card and send me over to the Soros camp, let me clarify.

We need to follow Canada's example on education, not health care.

For those of you who didn't know, while Canada does have a boondoggle of a socialized and failing health care system, they have a streak of Reagan individualism in them. There is no Ministry of Education. There is no federal cabinet official for K-12 education in Canada. Canada spends very little on Federal education. All funding and policy making takes place at the provincial and state levels.

Contrast that with our system. Over 4000 federal employees in the Dept. of Education. And, Washington gives 10 percent or better of the funding of k-12 education. And also, we have a 19 billion dollar education budgetal increase. This is a total appropriation of over 78 billion dollars. Since 1970, inflation adjusted spending per pupil has risen almost 200%, while achievement by 17 year olds has stagnated, and drop out rates increase. Obama wants to furnish college students with $173 billion in 2011. What are we getting for this? Let's see.

While more people are getting degrees, those degrees are not worth as much as they used to be. There is a huge surplus of degree hlders. According to the US government, only 21% of jobs require bachelor's degrees. Also, the bang for the buck in higher education has gone away. The most recent National Assessment of Adult Literacy shows that the percentage of Americans whose top degree is a bachelor's who were proficient readers dropped about 10 points between 1992 and 2003, and only about 38% were proficient in 1992. Aemricans with graduate degrees saw comparable drops. But the costs continue to rise in college. Why? Well, more free cashola or less restrictive cashola has encoraged students to demand more from schools--rec centers, gourmet food, big time dorms--and enable schools to pass the costs along to Mom and Dad, and all taxpayers who foot the bill for federal aid. It should come as no big deal to learn that real aid per student rose 149% since 1979, while public four year college charges swelled 105%.

And what of public schools? Well, while failing schools continue to get money thrown their way, the failure rates continue to go up. We continue to fail students upwards, putting out students with less knowledge and academic foundations than their forebears even a generation ago. While they may be able to text and facebook, their knowledge in math and civics has cratered.

As Ronald Reagan said, education isn't "an isolated bureaucrat in WAshington"'s responsiblity. It is "a parental right and responsibility." However, we have let many parents abdicate this role, even as they decry teachers working their best in a failed system. We need to get the feds out of education, as Canada has done and continues to do.

In Canada, there is freer experimentation and innovation than in American schools, where unrealistic and unindividualized mandates must be followed. In the US, Washington bureaucrats have used the feds' pockets as a carrot to push states to meet federal directives. Several Canadian provinces provide direct per student grants, similar to vouchers, to private and independent schools. In provinces like British Columbia and Alberta, school choice has empowered PARENTS at all income levels, and academic achievement has skyrocketed. Meanwhile, in the US, we throw more money at failing school systems and the problems only get bigger. According to a study from the Fraser Institute, "Achievement scores are not only higher generally in th provicnes that fund independent schools, but also higher particularly among studetns from less advantaged backgrounds." The study also finds that public schools, forced to compete with private schools, improve their performance. Wow, free markets work!!! Imagine that.

On the 2006 Program for International Student Assessment, Canada destroys the US almost across the board. In Math, the US scores 474 (below average), and Canada with its free market approach scores 527. In reading, Canada outscores America. This is all the more explosive when you realize the US outspends Canada by 20% per student.

But, let's also take a lesson from civics. Aside from its governance of the District of Columbia and the due process clauses in the 5th and 14th Amendments, the Constitution gives the Federal government NO POWER over education. The founders realized how dangerous such a thing could be, and how it could lead to some monolithic system that discriminates systemically. Which is what has happened. I guess the Court judges who have shamefully used the general welfare clause to allow abuses of power like this to go on should go back to school. But, maybe they should go to Canadian schools for lesson in what competitive and achieving schools should look like.

Like the healthcare issue, the government needs to get out of the way. While Canada has realized this in education, they failed to do so in healthcare. We need to look at Canada's success in education and failure in healthcare and realize government needs to let the market decide, and let the rising tide of competition and achievement lift all boats. Artificial goals and incentives only destroy achievement and incentivize mediocrity. Don't American children deserve better?

Obamacare: Heritage Trying to Tell Seniors The Garbage They Voted For

Since we need to continue our focus on Obamacare and its disastrous implications for the nation, I thought I would begin to bring back some oldie but goodie articles....Stay tuned for more...and later, some new notices about what churches and the Senate are doing to push this through....Tease: One church tries to invoke the Bible to support Obamacare's heinous initiatives. Wonder if their parishoners know they are lobbying for the culture of death?

I have been saying it for weeks in posts about Obamacare and its effect on the elderly. The AARP doesn't seem to be caring much, probably because they are full of lobbyists who think that Obama is the messiah and that Nancy Pelosi deserves her morning routine of 100 dollar hairstyling AND making the Secret Service get her Haagen Daas ice cream, who think they are smarter than everyone else. The Heritage Foundation lays out the numbers:

Losing Your Doctor: Under the current system, more and more seniors are discovering that it is becoming harder and harder to find and keep doctors who will accept Medicare patients. A 2008 survey found that 29% of the Medicare beneficiaries it surveyed who were looking for a primary care doctor had a problem finding one to treat them, up from 24% the year before. This problem is compounded by the fact that our nation is facing a growing shortage of doctors. Obamacare promises to only make these problems worse. First, Obama plans to pay for up to a third of his plan by cutting $313 billion in Medicare reimbursements to health care providers over the next 10 years. This will only force more doctors to stop seeing Medicare patients. Second, Obama’s public “option” could decrease the annual net income of hospitals by $36 billion, while the annual net income of physicians could drop by $33.1 billion. Facing a sharp reduction in their pay, more doctors will retire early and more bright students will elect to pursue other careers, thereby reducing access and ensuring lower quality health care for future generations as well.

Losing Your Coverage: 22% of all Medicare patients, which translates to 10.5 million seniors, are currently enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans. These health plans cover all of the traditional Medicare benefits and much more, including coor­dinated care and care-management programs for enrollees with chronic conditions as well as additional hospitalization and skilled nursing facility stays. President Obama has proposed killing this program entirely. A new study for the Florida Association of Health Plans found that, because Medicare Advantage plans have richer benefits and lower deductibles and co-payments than traditional Medicare, seniors in that state would face dramatically higher payments if forced to give up their Medicare Advantage plans. Cost increases would range from $2,214 a year in Jacksonville to $3,714 a year in Miami.
Rationing Your Care: Another centerpiece to Obamacare is the creation of a federal health board that will ration your health care. Obama supporter and infanticide advocate Peter Singer made the case for rationing health care recently in the New York Times, writing: “The task of health care bureaucrats is then to get the best value for the resources they have been allocated.” Conservatives in Congress have given Obamacare supporters every opportunity to disavow government-rationed health care, but Obamacare supporters have voted down every anti-rationing amendment proposed. Make no mistake, Obama plans to pay for expanded coverage for the young and healthy by denying treatments to the old and sick. Americans can do better.

There is no question that America’s $2.4 trillion health care system needs to be reformed. But it should not be done on the backs of America’s seniors. Conservatives have a better vision for health care reform that cuts health care costs by reforming the tax system, enabling true health care competition, and giving families control of their health care dollars.

Excellent points all around. Seniors, if you voted for Obama, you voted to cut short your own lives.

The AARP is a huge insurance conglomerate. Don't think so? Look at their commercials. They sell life, home, flood, auto, and health insurance. They want to be in on the Obamacare nightmare so they don't get run over by the government.

This article exposes that the AARP is betraying its members:

Marketing operations don't get any slicker than the one behind AARP. Their invitation to join arrived in my mail box even before I turned 50. I joined for one year, but never renewed because I knew the truth about this famous group.

That truth is this: Millions join AARP and in return receive a host of useful services and resources. But their money and influence are hijacked to support causes that are absolutely inimical to their best interests.

The hijacking is the work of AARP's Washington staff, which is an integral part of the tireless liberal lobbying machine that runs 24/7 in the nation's capital pushing to protect and expand current government entitlements and to create costly new ones.

Sound hard to believe? Think again...the article continues....

But AARP's leadership has outsmarted itself by going all out to aid President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in their drive to nationalize America's health care system.

That was predictable, given AARP history. In 2005, AARP led the charge against President Bush's still-born proposal to reform Social Security by allowing younger workers to put a small portion of their contributions into private investment accounts. Two years before that, AARP backed Bush's Prescription Drug Benefit, the largest expansion of the Medicare program since its creation in 1965.

In short, stick around D.C. for any length of time during the past three decades and you likely figured out that AARP's national office was and is today a key player on the side of Big Government, higher taxes and more bureaucracy.

The group has no PAC, which creates a patina of non-partisan respectability, but a look at the political contributions of the people working in AARP's Washington office exposes the real AARP

A. Barry Rand, AARP's CEO, maxed out for Obama in 2008, giving $4,600 to the president's campaign committee and $4,300 to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint production of the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee. And AARP general counsel Joan Wise gave $1,000 to Obama.

But FEC records reveal that big bucks for Obama from Rand and Wise are just the opening line of the AARP story. The following data are for 2006 and 2008 and only for individuals who listed AARP as their employer.

Policy director Jill Fensen gave $300 to Obama, while AARP research director Linda Fisher gave $750 to Obama, $2,300 to Hillary Clinton, and $250 to the Virginia Democratic Party. In 2006, Fisher gave a combined $2,300 to assorted Democratic campaign outlets.

Then there is AARP policy director Enid Kassner who gave Obama $750, AARP health advisor Lee Keiser who gave the DNC $500, AARP strategy consultant Joseph Liu who gave Obama $2,300, and AARP project manager Beth Lazur who gave Obama $1,500.

The list goes on and on: AARP speechwriter Erica Nash-Thomas gave Obama $2,350, AARP consultant Bryan Rawlings gave Obama $1,000, and AARP economist John Turner sent $900 to Hillary Clinton, $1,918 to the DNC, and $426 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. I could keep going here, but you get the picture.

But wait, there is more:

Among so much else, Obama and AARP promise seniors they can keep their present doctors, but an already worsening national doctor shortage will be made far worse by Obamacare. "Cost-saving" fee reimbursements and increased red tape will drive them out of the profession.

And Obama and AARP promise seniors high-quality care, but the Obamacare reality will be long lines and waiting lists for critical treatment and appointments with specialists here, just like in Canada, Great Britain and every other nation with government-run health care.

Finally, Obamacare will give seniors counseling to help them "consider their options" when their health deteriorates beyond a certain point. That's another way of saying Obamacare bureaucrats pull the plug, regardless of the family's wishes, so get ready.

In short, Obamacare means health care rationing for old folks, the sick and the terminally ill. There will be hell to pay for AARP with its members when this ugly reality becomes crystal clear, as it most certainly will.

Elderly people who look to the AARP to help will be rationed health care, and denied; left to suffer and die in the name of efficiency and cutting costs.

I heard the news about this poster at a Dingell rally and was shocked. Especially as it was held up by a young African American person. But, that got me thinking. I tried to investigate, but others were already out front. It turns out this guy is a plant! He is a Dingell supporter. And, it turns out the poster is not from the "loons on the right" but that loon Lyndon LaRouche. The Blog Prof has all the goods and coverage. Go over and check out the videos and the links. Last Friday, Frank Beckmann on his show broadcast on WJR 760 AM interviewed an eyewitness that said not only were union thugs let in through a side door before anyone else was let into the venue, but that he clearly saw from his vantage point that very Obama as Hitler poster in that back hallway after the union thugs took their seats. The interview was around 11:00am, but WJR chose not to post that audio (they only tend to select one or two clips a day to post). I thought it would have been bigger news, and needed more than just that to write a post, albeit an audio clip would have partially sufficed. In any case, I've been scouring YouTube and the web for more info, and have finally found some. Here is one account that was posted Monday over at FreeRepublic:


A couple that were at Dingals TH meeting said there was a black man outside with a sign comparing Obama the Adolf Hitler. After the meeting ended and when everyone was leaving this same man was handing out Dingal campaign flyers.

The post has the video of the couple discussing the "gentleman" who had the Obama poster. The origin of the poster is from Lyndon LaRouche, but the guy holding it was a union guy/Dingell supporter who was seen handing out Dingell campaign paraphanelia. Odd, don't you think? But wait...there's more...

So, what do we see? We see plans to distort the seating ratios. We see plans to tilt the coverage by the media through seating arrangements, walls around the Member of Congress, as well as cozying up to the media and "shaping the narrative." Whatever happened to letting them report THE FACTS? We see limiting access to the event as a tactic. Gosh, we even see prepared remarks to make to shift the focus away from questions asked by people opposed to health care. Prepackaged remarks? Gosh, that sounds like coaching and coaxing to me. Sounds rather thuggish and staged to me, kind of like rallies in Munich in the 1930s. But what do I know? I am just a college educated Social Studies major with emphasis in 20th century history and political science. Maybe it is the evil Republican mind control machine, but I see more falsehoods in the HCAN nonsense than from Joe Voter at a town hall. Guess I must be headed to the re-education camp....

Holy Toledo! I Was Told If Bush Won in 2004 People Would Be Fired for Their Beliefs....

However, it didn't come to fruition until after Obama won in November. The University of Toledo has fired a human resources officer for using her first amendment rights to disagree with a pro-gay agenda. Here are the details:

I read with great interest Michael Miller’s April 6 column, "Gay Rights and Wrongs."

I respectfully submit a different perspective for Miller and Toledo Free Press readers to consider.

First, human beings, regardless of their choices in life, are of ultimate value to God and should be viewed the same by others. At the same time, one’s personal choices lead to outcomes either positive or negative.

As a Black woman who happens to be an alumnus of the University of Toledo’s Graduate School, an employee and business owner, I take great umbrage at the notion that those choosing the homosexual lifestyle are "civil rights victims." Here’s why. I cannot wake up tomorrow and not be a Black woman. I am genetically and biologically a Black woman and very pleased to be so as my Creator intended. Daily, thousands of homosexuals make a life decision to leave the gay lifestyle evidenced by the growing population of PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex Gays) and Exodus International just to name a few. Frequently, the individuals report that the impetus to their change of heart and lifestyle was a transformative experience with God; a realization that their choice of same-sex practices wreaked havoc in their psychological and physical lives. Charlene E. Cothran, publisher of Venus Magazine, was an aggressive, strategic supporter of gay rights and a practicing lesbian for 29 years, before she renounced her sexuality and gave Jesus Christ stewardship of her life. The gay community vilified her angrily and withdrew financial support from her magazine, upon her announcement that she was leaving the lesbian lifestyle. Rev. Carla Thomas Royster, a highly respected New Jersey educator and founder and pastor of Blessed Redeemer Church in Burlington, NJ, married to husband Mark with two sons, bravely exposed her previous life as a lesbian in a tell-all book. When asked why she wrote the book, she responded "to set people free… I finally obeyed God."

Economic data is irrefutable: The normative statistics for a homosexual in the USA include a Bachelor’s degree: For gay men, the median household income is $83,000/yr. (Gay singles $62,000; gay couples living together $130,000), almost 80% above the median U.S. household income of $46,326, per census data. For lesbians, the median household income is $80,000/yr. (Lesbian singles $52,000; Lesbian couples living together $96,000); 36% of lesbians reported household incomes in excess of $100,000/yr. Compare that to the median income of the non-college educated Black male of $30,539. The data speaks for itself.

The reference to the alleged benefits disparity at the University of Toledo was rather misleading. When the University of Toledo and former Medical University of Ohio merged, both entities had multiple contracts for different benefit plans at substantially different employee cost sharing levels. To suggest that homosexual employees on one campus are being denied benefits avoids the fact that ALL employees across the two campuses regardless of their sexual orientation, have different benefit plans. The university is working diligently to address this issue in a reasonable and cost-efficient manner, for all employees, not just one segment.

My final and most important point. There is a divine order. God created human kind male and female (Genesis 1:27). God created humans with an inalienable right to choose. There are consequences for each of our choices, including those who violate God’s divine order. It is base human nature to revolt and become indignant when the world or even God Himself, disagrees with our choice that violates His divine order. Jesus Christ loves the sinner but hates the sin (John 8:1-11.) Daily, Jesus Christ is radically transforming the lives of both straight and gay folks and bringing them into a life of wholeness: spiritually, psychologically, physically and even economically. That is the ultimate right.

The university apparently agrees that Dixon was fired because of the article, but argues that the firing was justified:

A letter from [University of Toledo President Lloyd Jacobs] to Ms. Dixon said her public position was in direct contradiction with university values and told her that her position "calls into question your continued ability to lead a critical function within the administration as personnel actions or decisions taken in your capacity as associate vice president for human resources could be challenged or placed at risk. The result is a loss of confidence in you as an administrator."

Ms. Dixon cited her 25-year career in human resources in which she has hired and recommended the hiring of both homosexual and heterosexual people based on their qualifications.

"To say that I cannot have a personal opinion regarding the practice of some humans and not be effective in my job as a human resources leader is preposterous given my track record for the past 25 years," she said.

Matt Lockwood, a UT spokesman, said yesterday the university welcomes dissent and input from others and the exchange of ideas, but her public expressions called into question her ability to do the functions of her job.

"Certain jobs within a public institution have restrictions on what those people in those jobs can express," he said.

The University of Toledo is a state-run university. Three questions:

(1) Is the University's position constitutionally permissible, on the grounds that "the employee's interest in expressing herself on this matter [was] not be outweighed by [some] injury the speech could cause to 'the interest of the State, as an employer, in promoting the efficiency of the public services it performs through its employees'" (the so-called Pickering balance)?

(2) Is the University's position professionally and ethically proper, or should public employers -- and especially universities, even when it comes to administrative employees -- have more tolerance for public debate on such issues?

(3) If the University's action is proper, then it suggests that pretty much any public speech that suggests that homosexuality is immoral could lead to a public employee's being fired, at least if the employee does something related to human resources (which would presumably include employees who are simply middle managers, and not just vice presidents of human resources). After all, it's pretty clear that Dixon wasn't fired for some especially rude way of putting her views, and that she couldn't have avoided the firing by just using different words -- it was the public expression of the views that was the cause of the firing.

Given this, how should people who share Ms. Dixon's religious views, and who are trying to figure out how militantly to fight against pro-gay-rights causes, react? Of course, you might think the answer is "change your views, and accept homosexuality as perfectly proper." But let's assume that those who oppose homosexuality continue to disagree with you on that. What should a reasonable person in their shoes do, faced with the prospect that expressing their views -- and quite likely expressing any opposition to pro-gay-rights policies, when the opposition rests on a claim that homosexuality doesn't merit legal protection of various sorts -- is becoming a firing offense as to a large range of jobs?

It does seem pretty clear that at least some of the progress of gay rights -- not all, but some -- is coming at he expense of the freedom (whether or not constitutionally protected freedom) of people who hold anti-gay religious views. Doubtless many who support gay rights understandably think this a fair tradeoff, especially when the rights are the rights of public employees, which have long been constrained (and in my view quite reasonably constrained) in certain ways. But what should be the reaction of those who oppose homosexuality on religious grounds, and care a good deal about their and their coreligionists' ability to express their views and act in accordance with those views in their private lives?

So, who is the party of suppression of free speech again? Who are the ones who seek to stifle debate? Liberals!

Voter Fraud: Franklin County Prosecutor Looking into VotefromHome House of Fraud

We reported to you yesterday about the house at Brownlee Road in Columbus, and about some of the people registered there. Michelle Malkin was all over it and it appears the outcry has been enough to get the Franklin County Prosecutor on the case:

Amid new allegations of voter fraud, the Ohio Secretary of State conceded today that the eligibility of nearly one third of newly registered voters is in question.

The latest developments raising questions about the integrity of this battleground state’s voting system came 18 days before the Nov. 4 presidential election:

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said a preliminary review showed that 200,000 of the 666,000 voters who registered since Jan. 1 must have their eligibility verified to comply with a federal court order.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien confirmed that he is investigating alleged voter and registration fraud involving 13 newly registered voters who came to Columbus for a get-out-the-vote campaign and used the same address, a small East Side home.

The Ohio Republican Party requested information about newly registered voters from elections boards in all 88 counties to look into reports of fraudulent voter registration.

Elections officials across the state said they fear chaos if they must verify the validity of thousands of newly registered voters in the busy days leading up to the election.

O’Brien told The Dispatch that he is investigating allegations that 13 out-of-state residents recently registered to vote, all claiming to live at 2885 Brownlee Rd.

The individuals apparently were in Columbus working for Vote From Home, a group working to increase young-voter turnout in Ohio and using the house as their base of operation, O’Brien said.

“None of the people who registered had prior contacts with Columbus and Franklin County,” O’Brien said. “You must be a resident of the state of Ohio in order to register and cast a ballot, and that’s the issue being examined - whether they were proper residents of Ohio.”

Two of the individuals voted in person at Veteran’s Memorial while a third returned a completed absentee ballot by mail, said Matt Damshroder, deputy director of the Franklin County Board of Elections.

Another seven using the address requested absentee ballots by mail, but it is not yet clear if they have submitted them. Three others registered but did not request an absentee ballot or participate in early voting.

Election fraud is a fifth-degree felony with a maximum sentence of a year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

OH-07: Neuhardt's Fundraising Numbers

A few things pop out regarding OH-07's Democratic candidate Sharen Neuhardt's fundraising numbers...

Cash on Hand: $214,553 (does not include the $150K in media she purchased after the filing deadline.)

Contributions:
$2000 -- Nancy Pelosi
$2000 -- Charlie Rangel
$1000 -- Planned Parenthood
$1500 -- NARAL
$5000 -- Emily's List

Seems to me that Sharen ought to be explanning some of this... $7500 from pro-death abortion groups...$2000 from an ethically challenged Congressman...and another $2000 from a San Francisco liberal. These are not the values of OH-07.

More Community Organizers Engaging in Fraud in Ohio

We have some fellow activists engaging in illegal voter and election fraud in Ohio, using the same residence and working for the same so-called non-partisan organization: Vote from Home. Via Michelle Malkin:

Something smells at 2885 Brownlee Avenue in Columbus, Ohio.

I strongly recommend that the Ohio Republican Party get on the case before it’s too late. Today’s the last day to challenge voters who registered early in Ohio before the run up to Election Day.

Here’s the stench: An entire houseful of young, non-Ohioan Democrat activists have used the Brownlee Avenue address to register themselves to vote in the Buckeye State and secure absentee ballots under extremely shady circumstances — all while mobilizing a large effort to register thousands of others for absentee and early voting. The activists are leaders of a group called “Vote From Home ‘08.” The group is self-identified as having “extensive experience with political organizing, election administration, and Democratic politics.” They were hailed as the “Justice League” by a Daily Kos blogger. Their Facebook page brags: “Want to turn the Presidential election blue in a key swing state? Vote from Home is a political organization that was founded by a team of young people for the purpose of assisting, aiding, and tracking voters to elect progressive candidates to the White House. Encouraged by the excitement of the 2008 elections and the movement around the Democratic candidates, Vote From Home will be in Ohio seeking to deliver 10,000 votes to Democratic candidates statewide.”

So, where is the evidence? Glad you asked:

Palestra.net, a network of young reporters who have been doing the voter and registration fraud reporting that the MSM has been slow to do, have a breaking investigative report on how several members of the Democrat Vote From Home team — all Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, and Truman Scholars studying abroad — are turning up on Franklin County voter rolls despite having no bona fide residence in Ohio and admittedly having little to no knowledge about the state before descending on it in August to sign up other new voters in a rush to put 10,000 Obama supporters on the rolls.

Check out the link at Malkin for screen captures that show the fraud in action, and provide full details of these people who seek to subvert the election and try to steal it and not have an honest and fair election.

And to those who said that this was just resgistration fraud, not voter fraud, there is this:

And on and on it goes. Shelby at Palestra tells me that some 12 activists associated with Vote From Home may have fraudulently registered and that some have voted already. If they were this breathtakingly careless or brazenly reckless with their own registrations, imagine what damage they might have done in their voter registration drive — and what damage they may yet do in following through on absentee ballots with those voters.

Will the rest of the MSM pick up on the invaluable investigative reporting of Palestra’s intrepid young reporters? Or will they look the other way? Will out-of-town punks — all using 2885 Brownlee Ave. in Columbus as their ballot drop house — help turn Ohio blue? Will the Democrat Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, bury her head in the sand?

The ball is in the Ohio GOP’s court. Don’t drop it.

OH-02: EMILY's List Endorses Wulsin

In a not-so-shocking development, EMILY's List has endorsed Vic Wulsin in OH-02. But try finding that announcement on Vic Wulsin's campaign site. Why would Wulsin want to bury this news? Because while Wulsin's values are aligned with EMILY's List, the district does not support their principles. Wulsin will take their campaign cash and support while trying very hard to keep it secret.

Let's not forget what EMILY's List is all about...

A candidate must meet three qualifications to be considered for an EMILY’s List endorsement: back abortion rights, including the right to late-term (or ‘partial birth’) abortions; be a Democrat; and, in primary elections, be a woman.

We can have arguments over how much the demographics of the district have changed, but I would find it very difficult to believe that this is the sort of group that the good people of OH-02 would support. And that is why Team Wulsin hides the endorsement.

Despite the obvious risks of being associated with a radical group that wants to REINSTATE partial-birth abortion, Vic Wulsin has apparently decided that taking their money is worth the risk. EMILY's List DOES support the reinstatement of partial-birth abortion, though it hasn't been brain-dead enough to issue such a direct pronouncement; however, its reaction to the Supreme Court's upholding of the Federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act in April 2007 gives it away:

"This is a call to arms," said Ellen Moran, executive director of Emily's List, a Washington group that supports Hillary Clinton for president and raises money for Democratic women who back abortion rights. Rep. Chabot: Petition to Stop Planned Parenthood in OH-01

Protecting the sanctity of life has always been, and will continue to be, one of my top priorities as a member of Congress.

You may have heard that I recently launched a petition drive to oppose Planned Parenthood’s expansion to their new West Side facility at 2016 Ferguson Ave. This move would place them within walking distance to many of our schools—allowing them to target our children.

I believe this expansion is an affront to our community, our values, and most importantly our children. I’d like to invite you to join me and voice your opposition to their calculated move.

RELEASE: Rep. Jordan Announces Online Petition Drive Supporting Judge DeWeese Against ACLU

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) offered his strong public support for an Ohio judge’s display that has drawn fire from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Last week, the ACLU filed a district court motion against Richland County Common Pleas Judge James DeWeese for posting a document that details the importance of the Ten Commandments to our nation’s legal system.

“The Ten Commandments, a cornerstone of Western law, are appropriate for a judge to display in his courtroom, where he is expected to enforce the law, promote equal justice under the law, and educate citizens about the rule of law,” Jordan said.

Earlier today, Jordan launched an online petition effort so that the community could demonstrate its support of DeWeese’s courtroom display. Jordan was the first to sign the petition, which is available at www.petitiononline.com/deweese/petition.html.

The petition reads:

We, the undersigned, support the right of Judge James DeWeese to display language found in the Ten Commandments. Ideas have consequences, and we understand that this display contrasts unchanging moral absolutes like the Ten Commandments with moral relativist precepts that allow individuals or societies to continually redefine for themselves right and wrong.

America’s founders understood the deep significance of the Ten Commandments to our legal system and the fixed duties it imposes. Throughout our history, representations of the Ten Commandments have consequently been placed in legislative chambers and courtrooms, including that of the U.S. Supreme Court.

We reject the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) chosen role as censor and thought police seeking to silence the moral absolute side of this debate with which it disagrees. We believe the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects all Americans’ freedom to express their opinions.

We call on the court to rebuff the ACLU’s censorship efforts and to protect freedom of expression.
