Election Results Demonstrate Butler County GOP Has Lost Influence with Voters

The results are in and it appears that the Butler County Republican Party has lost some influence over the voters based on how some of their endorsed candidates fared.

Warren Davidson winning the OH-08 Congressional hit is probably the highest profile seat.  Tim Derickson won the endorsement * [received the blessing of BCGOP after the endorsement] and there was no shortage of candidates to chose from on the ballot, but the Butler County GOP's choice came in third.

Wes Retherford's win over Corky Combs is surprising because Combs is Old Guard and Wes was just finishing up his first term.  Combs got the endorsement and then ran a vicious smear campaign that appears to have turned off the electorate.

Candace Keller's win over Joe Mulligan is another case of establishment power being crushed.  Keller has been a frequent candidate for office before, but finally wins to take Derickson's state House seat (he was term limited).

For me, the biggest victory of the night was Ann Becker winning the State Central Committee seat from the establishment's choice.  Ann has been a strong Tea Party leader and has frequently been a vocal critic of the way things are going with the state party and local issues.

Four races that clearly demonstrate that the Central and Executive Committee endorsement means a whole lot less than it used to in Butler County.  It's a good thing.  New blood is seriously needed as it can now be argued that the current batch are out of touch with the communities they are supposed to represent.

SIDEBAR: Sheriff Spotlight gets dinged too.  Particularly in the Retherford race.  He's usually a behind-the-scenes player in these things, but his fingerprints are hard to miss.

* CORRECTION: A Facebook friend reminded me that nobody got the endorsement. Roger Reynolds received the most votes, but not enough to capture the prize. He subsequently dropped out and support rallied around Derickson after that.

WMD on Issues

Issue 1: NO -- Ohio's constitution requires that this question be asked every twenty years. We don't need a constitutional convention because we have an amendment process.

Issue 2: NO -- Ohio's redistricting process is kind of screwy but installing liberal special interest groups in to an unaccountable committee that can spend as much as they want is not the answer.

Issue 3 - City of Fairfield: NO -- WMD opposes the reallocation of taxpayer dollars from road repair to general fund. If the roads are perfect and the money no longer needed, then return said funds to the taxpayers.

Issue 4 - Hamilton County: NO -- Cincinnati City Clowncil members do NOT need four-year terms.

Issue 24 - Butler County: YES -- While I find their yard signs a bit creepy and their argument that "won't raise taxes" to be silly when it doesn't reduce taxes either, I have found that these people do good work for butler County's children and the renewal represents 55% of their operating budget. Jerome Kearns answered every question I had satisfactorily...

Any levy increase: NO -- You don't raise taxes during a recession.

Any levy renewal: MAYBE -- Depends on the individual agency requesting the renewal. If the services are vital to the community and the agency has run their operations in a fiscally responsible manner, then a YES is deserved.

Support Stacey Dash, Maligned for Supporting Mitt

Actress Stacey Dash didn't think it would be that big a deal.  She tweeted that she was supporting Governor Mitt Romney and why.  You may know Ms. Dash from her films like Clueless, Illegal in Blue, and many other appearances on film and TV.  She is an African American actress.  Well, the hate and threats and racist taunts began immediately.  Stand up for people like Ms. Dash.  Support people who are willing to come out and not be cowed by racist stereotypes and what the left and conventional wisdom expect from them.  Here is a recent interview she did regarding the firestorm with Piers Morgan:

She speaketh the truth.  And it is her right to do it.  It is racist to think she just has to blindly support Mr. Obama.  The liberals are hating on her for speaking her own mind.  Funny, from the party of tolerance that they would be doing such things.  But not really.  It is actually very typical.

Even Mayor Bloomberg Thinks Romney Would be Better than Obama...

...but wont endorse him because Romney and he disagree on "social issues." So, let me get this straight Pop Policeman..you are more than willing to send the country headlong into economic and security hell because you and the Mittster disagree on social issues? We are talking about the present and future of the free world, you stupid self righteous jackass! From the New York Times:
But during casual conversations at charity event a few days ago, Mr. Bloomberg was far chattier — and candid — about the subject, according to three people who overheard him.

Mr. Bloomberg said that he believed Mr. Romney would probably be better at running the country than Mr. Obama, according to two guests.

But Mr. Bloomberg said he could not support Mr. Romney because he disagreed with him on so many social issues, these two people said. The mayor mentioned two such issues: abortion rights and gun control.

As a result, Mr. Bloomberg said, he intended to remain neutral, said one guest.

Yes, because Mitt Romney may not like babies being killed on demand, that is good enough reason to sit on the sidelines and let the country slip into the dustbin of history....great call, Mayor Menstrual Cycle!

Josh Mandel Endorsed By U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Release:
Columbus, Ohio – Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will officially endorse State Treasurer of Ohio Josh Mandel in the race to defeat incumbent U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown. Treasurer Mandel is the first candidate to be endorsed by the Chamber this election cycle, signifying how important the Ohio election is to restoring balance in the U.S. Senate. A press conference will take place today at 2:00 p.m. announcing the endorsement at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, 230 East Town St., in Columbus. “I am proud to have earned support from the world’s largest business organization. As a strong advocate for the free-enterprise system, my number one priority in the U.S. Senate will be to help create an environment that allows the private sector to grow and create jobs,” said Treasurer Josh Mandel. “We need to replace Washington failures with common sense solutions like reducing regulatory burdens and fixing our tax code to make America more competitive in the globalized marketplace.” Rob Engstrom, the Chamber’s National Political Director, told The Columbus Dispatch yesterday, "[Sherrod Brown] has one of the worst records in the U.S. Senate on business issues … We're really excited to support Josh Mandel and we desperately need his help in Washington to restore a free enterprise approach to the economic challenges we're facing.” The endorsement comes in the middle of a statewide tour Treasurer Mandel is conducting to discuss his pro-growth agenda with job creators and blue-collar workers in several different industries across 22 of Ohio’s 88 counties

Rep. Latta Endorses Mitt Romney

Email:
The last time President Obama came to Ohio as a candidate, he spoke of hope and change. More than any specific policy proposal, it was the promise of hope and change that won over the American people. Hope that the economic downturn would be short-lived and that under his leadership we would see the creation of millions of new, good jobs. Change was what he promised to bring to Washington, where he assured us he would discard the partisan politics that have bedeviled the capital for too long and reform a government that many Americans no longer feel works for them. President Obama made these promises to a nation that was hungry to hear them. They responded, and he won the election in overwhelming fashion. Today he returns to Ohio, once again seeking our votes. But now President Obama has something he lacked before—a record, and it is one of broken promises and failed policies. President Obama promised Americans that his stimulus plan would revitalize the economy and that unemployment would never go above 8 percent. He even said it would be 6 percent by now. However, that isn’t the case; we've had 39 consecutive months of 8 percent-plus unemployment, the worst record since the Great Depression. Adding insult to injury, President Obama’s reckless spending continues to add to the national debt, further placing America on an even greater path of financial instability. Worst of all, if President Obama is reelected and his out of control spending continues, the national debt will hit $20 trillion in the final year of his second term. Yet somehow despite all these failures, President Obama believes he has succeeded. Based on his words, one might expect that President Obama would want to run on his record. Clearly, however, not even he believes his own proclamations. That is why his campaign is one of distraction and distortion. But we in Ohio aren’t looking for a politician, we are looking for a leader. We want someone with a plan to succeed where Barack Obama has failed. In Mitt Romney, we have that candidate. Mitt Romney’s successes are as well-known as Barack Obama’s failures. Whether working to save businesses, to salvage the Olympic Games, or to put Massachusetts’s fiscal house in order, Mitt Romney has proven he is a master at turning things around. But Romney brings something even more important than his record to the table. Unlike President Obama, Mitt Romney knows that the foundation of our nation’s prosperity is the American people, not the federal government. President Obama wants more government in your lives. Mitt Romney will get government out of your way. President Obama wants higher taxes. Mitt Romney will cut tax rates across the board and reform our byzantine tax code. President Obama wants to continue spending more money than we can take in, borrowing from China to do so. Mitt Romney will finally balance our budget. President Obama wants to tell you how to live your lives, down to whether your children can help out on a family farm. Mitt Romney knows that free people, not government bureaucrats, built our nation’s prosperity. The choice in this election could not be clearer. The case for America’s greatness begins today, here in Ohio and that’s why I fully support and endorse Mitt Romney for President of the United States.

National Right To Life PAC Endorses Josh Mandel For Senate In Ohio

Release:
Columbus, Ohio – Today, the National Right to Life Political Action Committee endorsed State Treasurer Josh Mandel for election to the United States Senate. “The National Right to Life Political Action Committee is pleased to endorse pro-life state Treasurer Josh Mandel for election to the United States Senate,” said David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., National Right to Life Committee Executive Director. “We look forward to working with Josh Mandel to restore legal protection for innocent life – unborn children and medically disabled or dependent persons whose lives are threatened by abortion or euthanasia.” Please see the below statement: “I am honored to have earned the endorsement of such an esteemed organization as National Right to Life. They share my deep and abiding belief that life is a precious gift, and it must be protected at every stage. I will continue to work with pro-life leaders and pro-life activists across Ohio to promote a culture of life, and to stand in defense of innocent life, every single day." -- Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate # # # NRL PAC Endorses Josh Mandel for Senate in Ohio By Karen Cross, National Right to Life Political Director The National Right to Life Political Action Committee has endorsed pro-life state Treasurer Josh Mandel for election to the United States Senate from Ohio. The contest against incumbent pro-abortion Sherrod Brown (D) is expected to be one of the closest of any Senate race in 2012. Mandel, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, is well known as an extremely hard-working candidate. He was elected to Ohio’s state legislature in 2006 after knocking on 19,679 doors and wearing out three pairs of shoes. There is a stark contrast between Josh Mandel and Sherrod Brown on life issues. For twenty years, first in the House and now in the Senate, Sherrod Brown has consistently voted for pro-abortion legislation, including taxpayer funding for abortion. He voted to enact President Obama’s pro-abortion health care law (ObamaCare), which will provide government funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand, and will promote the rationing of lifesaving treatments. During consideration of that legislation, and throughout his congressional career, Brown has consistently opposed limitations on federal funding of abortion. Brown also consistently opposed the legislation to ban partial-birth abortions, which was enacted over his objections. The ban was ultimately upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2007 on a 5-4 vote. As a senator for the past six years, Brown has already voted to confirm two justices to the U.S. Supreme Court who had histories of supporting extreme pro-abortion positions. In recognition of his strong pro-abortion stance, both the political arm of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and NARAL’s political action committee have endorsed Brown for re-election. By contrast Josh Mandel is a strong advocate for life. Mandel opposes ObamaCare and will vote to repeal it. He believes that “government-run healthcare should be repealed in whole immediately.” Mandel’s support is needed to reverse the pro-abortion and pro-rationing effects of ObamaCare. He supports pro-life legislation and opposes the use of government funding for abortion. “The National Right to Life Political Action Committee is pleased to endorse pro-life state Treasurer Josh Mandel for election to the United States Senate,” said David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., National Right to Life Committee executive director. “We look forward to working with Josh Mandel to restore legal protection for innocent life -– unborn children and medically disabled or dependent persons whose lives are threatened by abortion or euthanasia.” Ohio’s U.S. Senate race is in a statistical dead heat. According to an April 20, 2012, Rasmussen Poll of likely voters, Sherrod Brown has 44% to Josh Mandel’s 41%.

Matt's Endorsements

FEDERAL

GOP Candidate for President: Rick Santorum -- It is no secret that I have not been wild about this field; but having heard Santorum speak, he's got my vote.

US Senate: Josh Mandel -- As much as I wish Josh would have finished his term as Treasurer, he is the best candidate in this field. He would serve us well in DC.

OH-02: Jean Schmidt -- Jean has proven her conservative credentials over the years. She may have made a few mistakes along the way, but Club for Growth, the National Taxpayers Union, and the National journal all rate her very high.

OH-03: John Adams -- Adams is a smart legislator and he is the right guy for this race.

OH-05: Bob Latta -- Latta has been effective in DC and he is one of the few in the Ohio delegation on the cutting edge of digital communications with his constituents.

OH-07: Bob Gibbs -- I had my doubts about Gibbs, but he has shown what he is made of since taking this seat. He deserves another term to continue his work.

OH-08: John Boehner -- He's the Speaker of the House for goodness sakes...

OH-09: Joe the Plumber -- The general is going to be a fun race to watch (heck, the Dem primary has been entertaining!). If we get the right candidate, this one will be competitive. Joe is the right guy.

OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY

6th Ohio Senate: Paul Isaacs -- I hope this one is the upset of the night. Peggy Lehner has been a disappointment and it is time to end her career before she does any more damage.

14th Ohio Senate: Paul Hall -- While Joe Uecker would also be acceptable, I've known Paul longer and am confident that he would represent the district very well.

27th Ohio House: Pete Stautberg -- It took us years to get rid of Tom Brinkman, let's put the last nail in the coffin of his political career.

28th Ohio House: Mike Wilson -- Mike deserves a second shot at Connie Pillich in the general.

51st Ohio House: Wes Retherford -- Yes, he has no opponent, but we ALWAYS support contributors to the program here at WMD.

65th Ohio House: John Becker -- Even if John weren't a "friend of the show" he would get my endorsement. John has integrity and is principle-centered. We need those qualities in Columbus.

66th Ohio House: Nick Owens -- This young man has been impressive. You would be hard-pressed to find someone who has worked harder for the win than Eric. While Doug Green would also be acceptable, Owens gets the edge here.

73rd Ohio House: Eric Spicer -- Everything I hae heard about Eric makes me believe he is the right guy to send to Columbus. The incumbent is no good, so it is time for some new blood.

BUTLER COUNTY

Commissioner: Chuck Furmon -- Chuck is one of the few "old guard" Butler County Republicans who deserves re-election. Chuck has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents and has the experience required to keep the county on track.

Clerk of Courts: Mary Swain -- Mary has done a tremendous job of cleaning up the mess left by Hurricane Cindy.

Swain Announces Endorsements

Release:
(Hamilton, OH) Mary Swain, Republican Clerk of Courts, released a list of power endorsements for the 2012 Republican Primary. The list of high level endorsements includes conservative representatives of law enforcement, retired judges, and the county’s top fiscal officers.

Those endorsing Clerk of Courts Mary Swain in the Republican Primary include retired Sheriff Harold “Don” Gabbard, County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser, retired Judge John Moser, retired Judge Anthony Valen, former State Senator Scott Nein, current State Senator Bill Coley, Commissioner Chuck Furmon, County Auditor Roger Reynolds, County Treasurer Nancy Nix, retired Recorder Joyce Thall, retired State Representative Shawn Webster, Middletown Mayor Larry Mulligan, Madison Township Trustee Alan Daniel, Middletown Councilman Joe Mulligan, Dave Kern, and Citizens for Community Values among many others.

“I am thrilled to have the support of so many pillars of our County who represent such a diverse collection of conservative Republican professionals,” said Swain. “These Republican leaders understand the need to keep me as Clerk because I was able to slash the office budget to an eight year low, refund one million dollars to the county, and upgrade obsolete technology.”

Swain was appointed Clerk in January 2011 by the Butler County Republican Party. During her appointment in which she defeated her current opponent in the Republican Primary, Swain promised a fiscally conservative office.

“Mary Swain is the leader that Butler County and the Clerk of Courts office needed. I am honored to join my fellow Republican leaders in supporting Mary Swain for Clerk of Courts because we need real conservatives in office who believe in fiscal restraint, accountability and transparency,” said County Auditor Roger Reynolds.

Swain also noted that she has received the most votes in each of two Tea Party straw polls in the last month – one in West Chester and one in Fairfield.

Swain is the past Chair of the Republican Party’s Central Committee and resides in Middletown with her husband. She has three children and two grandchildren.

Tea Partiers Endorse Client of Anti-Tea Party Mark Weaver

OK, the Tea Party in Ohio is officially dead. There, I said it. It has been killed by vendettas between individuals and leadership that thinks, like the evangelicals in the 2000s, that they are the only voice that matters. In a release, the Ohio Liberty Council chose to endorse Dr. Brad "I will say no money to abortions organizations on surveys but will give tons of money to Planned Parenthood on the Cincinnati Board of Health" Wenstrup. Tom Z, a guy I used to respect, sings the praises of someone who:
1. lied to pro life groups about being against giving taxpayer dollars to any abortion agency under ANY circumstances
2. used a George Soros attack group that has called Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, and tea partiers corrupt to besmirch Jean Schmidt
3. Has lied at a county endorsement meeting about conversations about the abortion issue with a member of the central committee of said county
4. Has used a friendly gesture by Schmidt toward Obama to make it seem like she supports Obama, when every time she meets the President that kiss is followed by "honor your promise to Piketon, Mr. President"
5. Was such a poor steward of Public Money that Cincinnati lost a health grant they had had for the previous 30 years because of his poor management and the rest of teh board of health

Somehow, to Tom Z, who evidently walks on water and has never ever sinned, this is a conservative candidate. Here is Tom Z and the OLC's idiotic endorsement:
The Ohio Liberty Council today announced that it is endorsing Dr. Brad Wenstrup for Congress in the 2nd District Republican Primary on March 6th. The endorsement is based on the recommendation of three OLC member groups in the 2nd Congressional District including Liberty Alliance Cincinnati, Clermont County TEA Psarty, and Anderson TEA Party organizations.

In making the endorsement, Tom Zawistowski, President of the OLC, said “An important part of the TEA Party movement is taking the time and making the effort to personally meet candidates and evaluate them in order to determine who will best represent our communities. I congratulate our TEA Party member organization who have done just that and have decided that Dr. Wenstrup is the best candidate in the field. Dr. Wenstrup's commitment to our nation through his military service, and commitment to his community through his involvement with Big Brothers and Big Sisters and other local charities, are unquestioned. It is the opinion of the Ohio Liberty Council that the citizens of the 2nd Congressional District would be well served if they voted to send Dr. Wenstrup to Washington to represent our conservative, constitutionally based values. We urge all Republicans to vote for Dr. Wenstrup either by absentee ballot or in person on March 6th.”

In accepting the endorsement of the OLC, Dr. Wenstrup said "I'm proud to earn the support of Ohio Liberty Council. As a small business owner and doctor, I believe it's time for a new representative to go to Washington. Someone who will stand for conservative values. Someone who will fight for economic freedom. And someone who will demand real solutions, real growth and real jobs. I look forward to being a voice for conservatives across Southwestern Ohio."

Even if they are not pro life, I know of few conservatives who think giving TAXPAYER MONEY to planned parenthood is a good idea. Then you compound it with lies about there being NO OTHER provider of testing services. Compound that with his poor stewardship as well as his mudslinging ads, and I don't see a conservative. Tom Z and his little OLC have truly jumped the shark, and it is self important asshats like these who have taken the tea party movement in Ohio and made it a frigging joke. Now, let's throw this in..remember how the OLC and other tea partiers were gung ho about taking over Ohio's GOP State Central Committee? Guess who was hired and willingly slung mud on behalf of Kevin DeWine against the tea party? Mark Weaver, that's who. And guess who is getting paid by Weaver to engage in lies and distortion against Jean Schmidt? Mark Weaver! From campaign expenditure reports from Team Wenstrup:

Communications Counsel, Inc.
37 West Broad Street, Suite 325
Columbus, Ohio 43215
10/03/2011 Invoice Wenstrup 22-1 $1800.00

Communications Counsel, Inc.
37 West Broad Street, Suite 325
Columbus, Ohio 43215
10/09/2011 Consulting and Advertising - Period 9/2 $10199.60

Communications Counsel, Inc.
37 West Broad Street, Suite 325
Columbus, Ohio 43215
11/22/2011 Consulting & Reimbursements - for period $4096.57

Communications Counsel, Inc.
37 West Broad Street, Suite 325
Columbus, Ohio 43215
12/17/2011 Dec 2011 & Sub-Consulting $11381.02

IF the tea partiers would get their heads out of their arses and quit thinking every incumbent is evil, they would see that they are throwing in with the guy who destroyed their chance at any right to work legislation he also was working with Kevin DeWine when he shot down their chances to get Tpers on the State Central Committee.

The OLC has become nothing more than an anti-incumbency group, a fringe organization that if it has any hope of being worth a damn, needs to get rid of people so strident who think we need to get rid of one of the most conservative members of Congress from Ohio. Someone who has gotten high rankings from industrial and business groups, as well as family groups. And, Jean never ever used a Soros attack group to besmirch a fellow Republican. But, I guess all that matters to Tom Z and the folks at OLC is Brad wore a uniform, has a penis, and spews all their rhetoric with very little proof in the pudding.

I am saddened and disgusted, despite the opportunity to meet Herman Cain, to have ever gone to Tom Z's convention or be associated with it. If this is his idea of looking into a candidate, I suggest he revisit things a bit.

Now, let's look at Jean Schmidt:

_Endorsed by the NRA victory fund
_Endorsed by Ohio Right to Life PAC
_Family Research Council and Citizen Link 100% Rating
_Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt (R-OH) received the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence
_Americans for Prosperity 100% rating
_Campaign for Working Families 100% rating
_Endorsed by Cincinnati Right to Life PAC
_Endorsed by Buckeye Firearms Association
_Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has been recognized as a ‘Taxpayer Hero’ by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.

I guess To Tom Z and the OLC, these organizations don't know what they are talking about...but I tend to go with organizations with actual track records over flashes in the pan any day of the week...But, your mileage may vary....

66thOHD: Owens Endorsed by Ohio ProLife Action

Release:
Batavia Township – On Wednesday, February 15th, Ohio ProLife Action issued endorsements for the Ohio General Assembly for the primary election to be held on March 6th. Ohio ProLife Action endorsed Republican candidate Nick Owens for the 66th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. Nick Owens was the only candidate to be endorsed by Ohio ProLife Action for the 66th District of the Ohio House of Representatives.

Founded in 2011, Ohio ProLife Action’s mission is to provide representation, leadership and support to the Pro Life movement in Ohio and to public officials and candidates who courageously work for the protection of innocent human life in the public arena. Ohio ProLife Action is the state’s leading advocacy group for the passage of House Bill 125, commonly known as the Heartbeat Bill.

“As a first time candidate for public office, I am absolutely honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of Ohio ProLife Action. In a very brief period of time, Ohio ProLife Action has become a leading voice for the unborn in the State of Ohio. Like Ohio ProLife Action, I hope the Ohio Senate promptly brings the Heartbeat Bill to the floor for a vote. The passage of the Heartbeat Bill will immediately save lives of the unborn. We cannot wait any longer,” stated Republican candidate Nick Owens.

“Further, it is easy for candidates and politicians to say they are Pro Life. Unfortunately, at times this empty rhetoric to simply get elected. This is not the case for me. I am Pro Life because it is the fabric of my being,” continued Republican candidate Nick Owens.

“I believe my personal story would give the Pro Life community a very persuasive voice for the sanctity of life in the Ohio House of Representatives. My mother chose life when she was just seventeen years old. I am thankful everyday for my mother’s decision to give me the gift of life. My mother delivering me at such a young age has given me the perspective of what it means to be Pro Life in Ohio and the United States. With every abortion is another lost gift and miracle to our communities, Nation, and World,” stated Owens.

Nick Owens is the only candidate for the 66th District of the Ohio House of Representatives to be endorsed by the Ohio Right to Life PAC, Ohio ProLife Action, Fraternal Order of Police Ohio Valley Lodge 112, and the Citizens for Community Values Action PAC.

NRA Political Victory Fund endorses U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt

Release:
The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has endorsed Congresswoman Jean Schmidt in the Republican primary election on March 6.

"We urge our members, gun owners, and sportsmen in Ohio to vote for you," James J. Baker, director of federal affairs for the NRA Political Victory Fund, wrote in a Feb. 7 letter to Congresswoman Schmidt. "Based on your solid and consistent pro-gun voting record, you have earned an 'A' rating from the NRA-PVF."

Congresswoman Schmidt, a Clermont County Republican who represents Ohio's Second District, said she was honored to receive the endorsement.

"I'm one of about 4 million members of the NRA, so I'm especially pleased to receive the support of the NRA Political Victory Fund," Congresswoman Schmidt said. "I'm proud to represent the interests of gun owners. I grew up on a farm and learned to shoot a gun at an early age. I have first-hand knowledge of the issues that arise in Congress because I'm licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Ohio, and I've participated in tactical defense training."

Before becoming the first woman elected to represent Southern Ohio in the U.S. House, Congresswoman Schmidt was a lawmaker in the Ohio General Assembly. There, she fought for passage of legislation to allow Ohioans the right to carry concealed weapons.

"Thank you for your unwavering support of the Second Amendment," Baker wrote on behalf of the NRA Political Victory Fund.

Congresswoman Schmidt has also been endorsed by the Buckeye Firearms Association, a grassroots political action committee dedicated to defending and advancing the right of Ohioans to own and use firearms for all legal activities, including self-defense and hunting.

Schmidt Earns Endorsement of Ohio Right to Life PAC

Brad Wenstrup says he is the true pro life conservative. Yet, he gave taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, an organization accused of covering up child rape. Not very conservative, pro life, or pro family to me. But, Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has shown and earned high scores on these issues as well as endorsements. Ohio Right to Life PAC has endorsed Jean Schmidt:
Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has been endorsed in the March 6 Republican primary election by the Ohio Right to Life Political Action Committee.

"The 2012 congressional elections will determine the pro-life balance of power in Washington D.C.," Mike Gonidakis said on behalf of the Ohio Right to Life PAC. "As pro-life Ohioans, it is our responsibility to support these endorsed candidates. Too many pro-life initiatives have been stalled by our pro-abortion president. ... We are asking all Ohioans to consider the unique opportunity we have before us to transform our federal government in order to place women's health and the lives of their unborn children as a top priority."

Congresswoman Schmidt, a Clermont County Republican who represents Ohio's Second District, was endorsed earlier this month by the Cincinnati Right to Life PAC, which also is dedicated to ending abortion.
"It is an honor to be recognized for leading the legislative fight to protect the lives of unborn babies," said Congresswoman Schmidt, who is chairwoman of the Congressional Pro-Life Women's Caucus.

During the last session of the U.S. House, Congresswoman Schmidt co-sponsored and voted for a bill to repeal Obamacare. The president's health-care measure could open the door for taxpayer money to go to abortion providers. Congresswoman Schmidt also co-sponsored and voted for the Protect Life Act, which would amend Obamacare to prevent federal funds from supporting health-care plans that include abortion coverage. In addition, Congresswoman Schmidt recently co-sponsored and voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.

Congresswoman Schmidt previously served four years as a lawmaker in the Ohio General Assembly, where she was instrumental in ensuring that Planned Parenthood didn't receive funding from the state. "I oppose local, state, or federal taxpayer dollars going to Planned Parenthood for any reason - because such money frees up resources that can be used to promote and perform abortions," Congresswoman Schmidt said.

Congresswoman Schmidt was president of Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati in 2005, when she became the first woman elected to represent Southern Ohio in Congress.

COAST Chooses Hypocrisy over Values in Helping Wenstrup Raise Cash

COASTers host fundraiser to help Dr. Brad Wenstrup's congressional campaign

###

When so-called “liberal” democrats voted to approve funding of Planned Parenthood to the tune of $26,000, COAST said it was a “misuse of tax funds”. But when Brad Wenstrup voted to give Planned Parenthood $85,000 of tax funds, you didn’t hear a peep out of Chris Finney’s group COAST. Instead they turned a blind eye to the misuse of taxpayer funds. The COAST motto seems to be: Do as we say, not as we do.

Despite a claimed fiscal crisis, on Monday of this week liberal democrats Todd Portune and David Pepper voted to approve funding of Planned Parenthood to the tune of $26,255. COAST joined Cincinnati Right to Life and Citizens for Community Values in e-mailing their members against this misuse of tax funds. An outcry from more than 1,500 residents nearly closed down business in the County administrative offices with calls and e-mails.

The Cincinnati Board of Health voted unanimously to give a sub-grant of up to $85,000 to the Planned Parenthood abortion business in the area, Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio. This is the same abortion business that was caught covering up a case of sexual abuse of a minor. The members of the Board of Health present at the time of the meeting approving the funding were Joyce Kinley, Dr. Jeff Lange, Dr. Wael Safi, Dr. Richard Schwen, Dr. Donna Shambley-Ebron and Dr. Brad Wenstrup.

So, COAST is supporting the guy who gave money to Planned Parenthood on the Board of Health, even though they called the allocation a waste of taxpayer dollars? They are supporting and raising money for the guy who so mismanaged the board of health a gratn in place for 30 years was removed?

Funny, I thought COAST was about conservative values and fiscal responsibility. It seems in OH-2 it is all about hating Jean Schmidt....Is it because she is successful? Is it because she is a woman? Or both? Or is it just because they beat COAST favorite Tom Brinkman and it is vendetta time?

Whichever way, don't support their spending candidate. Whichever way, how can you believe they stand for what they claim to, when they support a candidate who was such a poor steward of tax dollars?

Duvelius Endorsed by Sheriff Sims and Most County Officials

Release:
The elected officials of Warren County have spoken, and spoken loudly, to endorse the candidacy of Chief Magistrate Carolyn Duvelius for Common Pleas Judge. The vast majority of County-wide elected officials, and a large number of local officials, are endorsing Duvelius. Endorsements include County Sheriff Larry Sims, County Commissioners Pat South and Tom Ariss, County Auditor Nick Nelson, County Treasurer Jim Aumann, County Recorder Beth Deckard, County Coroner Russell Uptegrove, County Engineer Neil Tunison and State Representative Ron Maag.

“The outpouring of support is humbling,” Chief Magistrate Duvelius told friends and supporters at a recent event. “To have the conservative leaders of Warren County unite to support my candidacy is an honor. I will continue to work hard to earn their confidence and make them proud.”

In addition to the support of the County wide officials, Duvelius has received the endorsements of local officials across the County. Lebanon Mayor Amy Brewer and former Mason Mayor Don Prince are just a few of the growing list of public figures to come out in support of Duvelius.

“This is not about politics; this is about what is best for keeping the people of Warren County safe. Carolyn Duvelius is the best choice,” said Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims.

“I worked in Law Enforcement for over 50 years and know the importance of our Judges. We need Carolyn Duvelius,” said former Sheriff and current County Commissioner Tom Ariss.

Schmidt Endorsed by Buckeye Firearms

From the Release:
Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has been endorsed for re-election by the Buckeye Firearms Association, which describes itself as a grassroots political action committee dedicated to defending and advancing the right of Ohio citizens to own and use firearms for all legal activities, including self-defense and hunting.
Congresswoman Schmidt, a Clermont County resident who is running in the March 6 Republican primary election to retain her seat in Ohio’s Second District, said she was grateful to be recognized for her leadership on gun issues.
“I grew up on a farm and learned to shoot a gun at an early age,” Congresswoman Schmidt said. “In addition to being licensed in Ohio to carry a concealed handgun, I’ve participated in a tactical-defense training class.”
Joseph L. Eaton, Southwest Ohio region leader of the Buckeye Firearms Association, commended Congresswoman Schmidt for her longtime support of the right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed under the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
“For many years, you have been a good friend of Ohio’s gun owners,” Eaton wrote in an endorsement letter recently received by Congresswoman Schmidt. “Having completed formal training, qualified for and obtained your Ohio concealed handgun license, we know that you personally understand the challenges all gun owners face.”
Before becoming the first woman elected to represent Southern Ohio in the U.S. House, Congresswoman Schmidt was a lawmaker in the Ohio General Assembly. There, she fought for passage of legislation to allow Ohioans the right to carry concealed weapons.
“Each year since your election to the United States Congress (in 2005), your unwavering support of the Second Amendment has continued,” Eaton noted. The “Buckeye Firearms Association has kept careful track of your firearm-related votes and of your record of co-sponsoring pro-gun owner bills, and we continue to be impressed.
“Due to your past accomplishments and your continued passionate support of our Second Amendment rights, we are pleased to extend to you the endorsement of the Buckeye Firearms Association"
