Team Krikorian Lies Again

In the emailed press release reproduced below, Team Krikorian implies that Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- has "endorsed" some part of the so-called "Krikorian Plan." However: Boehner has done no such thing.

When Team Boehner stopped laughing and realized that I was serious I was informed that Boehner’s plan includes the same pro-growth policies that he and other House Republicans have been talking about for months. Nancy Pelosi is going to try and force through a massive $300 billion spending package; Barney Frank has made clear the Democrats will try and raise taxes; Joe Biden lowered the tax-hike threshold for an Obama-Biden administration to $150,000. Boehner believes – as do the majority of Americans – that raising taxes and government spending will not get our economy moving again and will not create jobs. He’s presented an alternative to the tax-raising big-government spending programs that Democrats want to enact.

While Krikorian claims that a copy of "his" plan was sent to Boehner, there is no evidence to show that Team Boehner even read "his" plan let alone "endorses" it. Near as I can tell, if Krikorian can say that Boehner has endorsed "his" plan than I can say that Krikorian has endorsed the Jean Schmidt plan...

She voted yes on H.R.4297, which included a provision to extend lower rates on capital gains taxes.

I also found this press release from last year discussing the implications of the new Democrat majority:
"The federal tax code is nearly nine times longer than the Holy Bible. But, tucked within its many volumes are historic and significant pro-growth provisions enacted by the 107th and 108th Congresses. These provisions have put more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans. Some examples include reducing marriage penalties in the standard deduction and 15 percent rate bracket; lowering the tax rate on capital gains and dividend income to 15 percent; increasing the child tax credit to $1000; and increasing the child and dependent care tax credit. The bottom line is pro-growth policies help -- not penalize -- married couples, small businesses and families."
But that doesn't address the capital gains tax directly, so I asked Bruce Pfaff:
"Unlike Mr. Krikorian, Congresswoman Schmidt is a true fiscal conservative and yes she does support elimination of the Cap gains tax."
So there you have it...

Let's recap for all you sports fans out there. Here are just a few of the Angry Armenian's claims of late:

  • He saw the credit crisis coming more than 10 years ago well before anyone else in the know

  • He told the Cincinnati News Record that he had it on good authority that the Fed was going to shut down the US banking system

  • You're either with him or against America

  • He’s not a Dem but has only voted in Dem Primary Elections

  • He’s a Reagan conservative, but he gave $1000 to one of the most liberal Democrat Anti-Reagan candidates (Wulsin) in the country (He also held a fundraiser for her in his home)

  • He is running a clean campaign but he shot his mouth off and attacked Rep. Schmidt regarding the hit-and-run accident

  • Back on point: It seems to me that once again the Angry Armenian is co-opting long held GOP party platform planks and claiming they are his. Claiming an endorsement where none ever existed is simply lying to the good people of the Second District. OH-02 deserves better than that.

Lastly, if Jean Schmidt had made a claim like this, some schmuck would have already filed a complaint with somebody...

    OH-02: Wulsin's Kenyan Adventure

Unlike the schmucks at the Cincinnati Enquirer, I'll actually name them AND give them a link... They've written a story on Vic Wulsin's new job and here is the full press release from the Schmidt campaign on the subject.

I wanted to point out a few things...

  • As the intrepid reporter pointed out, I covered this story awhile back...

  • Is Wulsin a Kenyan?
"I am honoured to be the Chancellor of Mount Kenya University. Together – all of us – we will make Mount Kenya University the beacon of innovation, intelligence, integrity, and inclusion, that our country and our world so richly deserve. We will do all we can to ensure the success of Mount Kenya University – today, tomorrow, and into the future for our children and our grandchildren."
    Emphasis added. Just asking...

  • Someone should ask Wulsin if she's received any money from the new gig yet. Has she declared the employment information and/or income on her federal elections disclosure forms? Enquiring minds want to know...

  • Maybe that last item explains why the Schmidt campaign hasn't filed that complaint yet... Just saying...

  • 10/10/08 UPDATE: I received the following email from Enquirer reporter, Ben Fischer...
Sorry about not naming you by name in the post about Wulsin. I wasn't sure if you had it exclusively when I wrote it, so I just hedged my bets and spoke generally. But in hindsight, that was a stupid thing to be worried about -- I know we're slow to adapt here in the Dinosaur Press, but I know it's bad form to not credit someone by name. Anyway, keep up the good work.
That was really nice of him...so I take back the namecalling! This time... :)

Schmidt Internal Poll Shows Huge Lead

Isn't it funny how each candidate got a poll that they really liked recently? Honestly, I think this race is Schmidt's to lose and she won't because Krikorian takes votes from Wulsin.

OH-02: Wulsin Disclosures Update & SUSA Poll

In other news, Election Advantage has some commentary on the latest Survey USA poll on OH-02. My favorite part of the poll? So glad you asked...
12% choosing to vote for another candidate, such as Independent David Kirkorian
By the way, the Angry armenian sent out a press release today with the headline, "WE ARE WINNING!" but I couldn't tell what he was referring to, so I asked him. This is the response I got...

No...I don't know how a candidate can be a winning a debate that hasn't happened yet either...

By the way, did you know that it is impossible to actually "win" a debate in American politics? It's true, you can lose one, but winning is subject to interpretation every time.

Day 3 and No Response From Team Wulsin on Disclosures

Like malariotherapy, this is not going away just because Vic Wulsin wants it too. At some point, people are going to have to start answering these questions.

OH-02: More on Wulsin's Disclosure Failures

The Schmidt campaign has provided a few more details on the Wulsin Disclosure issue that I think is worth taking a look at directly. Please see the Fact Sheet below...

PolitickerOH has the response from Team Wulsin which is best summerized as them saying, "We're being as honest as we can." PolitickerOH commenter Bill has the best line of the day: "We've got spirit, yes we do, we've got spirit, how 'bout you!!"

This is not a good response from Team Wulsin...

OH-02: Turks, Angry Armenians, and Congress

    Oh, where to start...

Well, this answers a question that BizzyBlogger Tom Blumer and I had during an off-the-air discussion about the Enquirer: Malia Rulon still has a job. For some reason.

I really have a difficult time understanding why a cash-strapped news organization would waste time on the political ramifications of a grand total of 549 (297 Turks and 252 Armenians) people in the 2nd District, but you know the Enquirer...they like to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Republicans out of desperation.

Wow...for once Wulsin mouthpiece Kevin Franck makes a good point...:
"The conflict between Turks and Armenians is serious and deserves discussion, but I think families in Southern Ohio care more about lowering gas prices, fixing our economy and making health care more affordable," spokesman Kevin Frank said.
...which I note because that will never happen again...

But since the Angry Armenian is what this piece is really about, let's bring on David's failure to take his latest chance to say, "No comment."
“How can you deny a historical fact? She does it simply to get bought off,” he said. “It has nothing to do with why I am running for office, but it does speak volumes about her. ... She’s a scary lady.”
Oh, David... My advice is to stop saying things like this if you ever want to be taken seriously. This is the kind of stuff that real politicans don't get caught up in because it makes them look bad. Did you not learn a lesson from the fallout of Jean Schmidt's comments regarding Rep. Murtha? Character assassination is not a good way to win friends and influence people.

Anyway, let's finally get to what this is all about...
[T]he Miami Township Republican has praised the founding of Turkey on the House floor, marched as grand marshal in the Turkish Day Parade, opposed legislation recognizing the Armenian genocide, joined the Caucus on U.S.-Turkish Relations, lunched with a group of Turks at Cafe Istanbul in Newport, Ky., and raised nearly $20,000 in campaign contributions from Turkish sources.
And apparently, in certain corners, that makes a person "scary."

What's so scary, you might be asking yourself...
“Congresswoman Schmidt is one of the few members of Congress who actually read Guenter Lewy’s book about the genocide and is one of the few members of Congress who actually doesn’t believe that it was genocide,” the e-mail said. “We have a member of Congress from Ohio who is willing to stand up to the Armenian lobby and it is important for the Turkish American community to support her.”

    G. Lincoln McCurdy, who is treasurer of the Turkish Coalition USA PAC, said Schmidt first appeared on the PAC’s radar after she was criticized by Armenian groups for opposing a House resolution that recognizes the Armenian genocide.

“The Turkish community thought we should support her, because of this harassment. ... that’s the primary reason why the Turkish-Americans have been supporting her,” McMurdy said.
I don't know about you, but I'm prtty frightened by all of this...
Pfaff said Schmidt read books about the Turkish-Armenian history, met with the Turkish ambassador, an Armenian group and an official from the State Department before making up her mind on the issue.

“She believes that there were certain atrocities committed but that they were committed on both sides,” Pfaff said. “She just doesn’t believe that it was a state-sponsored act, which is the definition of genocide.”

Beyond that, Schmidt “doesn’t believe that we should slap an ally like Turkey in the face with this type of resolution,” Pfaff said. “It’s not good for our national foreign policy.”
Rep. Schmidt has actually read up on this stuff and has made an informed decision! If only all of our elected officials would do so...

By the way, when will Malia and the Enquirer be doing full exposes on Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- and his colleagues Steve Chabot and Geoff Davis?

Again, Wulsin mouth Kevin was right: This stuff is a waste of time...of course, I just killed more time retelling it... God help me, I want this election to be over.....

    OH-02: Wulsin Update

Everybody knows that Dr. Wulsin isn't hiding anything in regards to her employment at the Heimlich Institute, right? Riddle me this then: Where is any mention of her work in resume?

    OH-02: Krikorian Not Fooling Anybody

Check out the latest ink on Kevorkian Krikorian in the Enquirer:
But Beaupre thinks Krikorian may be overestimating Schmidt's problems within her own party.

"I talk to the people who don't like Jean Schmidt, but they don't like her because they know her (personally)," Beaupre said. "The difference is that's not a huge percentage of the people who go to the polls."

One problem with running as a conservative: Krikorian voted in Democratic primaries in both 2004 and 2006, and has never voted in a Republican Party primary in Ohio, according to Hamilton County Board of Elections.

Also, he's donated $1,500 to Democratic candidates since 2006, including Wulsin, now his opponent. He says his campaign contributions were motivated by his desire to remove Schmidt from office, not active support of Wulsin.

Wulsin spokesman Kevin Franck declined comment on Krikorian.

Republicans, however, are eager to challenge his conservative bona fides.

"He may be a Reagan Democrat, but I don't believe he's a Reagan Republican," said Schmidt campaign spokesman Bruce Pfaff.

Hamilton County Republican Chairman Alex Triantafilou said he has no business campaigning as a conservative-friendly alternative to Schmidt.

"He's a person who is falsely passing himself off as one of us, and he's not," Triantafilou said.
If John Becker has never heard of you, and you are trying to pass yourself off as a Republican in this district...
John Becker, a state Republican central committeeman from Clermont County, said he'd never heard of Krikorian, other than seeing his extensive yard signs. If he's going to run against Schmidt as a fiscal conservative, Krikorian's welcome to join the Republican Party and compete with her in a primary, he said.

"He had his chance," Becker said.
    Amen, Brother John, Amen...

    This is just despicable:
"The only choice is me," Krikorian said. "If you care about this country, and you're pro-American, the only choice is David Krikorian. The other two choices are a waste. It's politics as usual, nothing more than that. As far as I'm concerned, they're equally bad."
Now, Kevorkian Krikorian is questioning the patriotism of everybody who votes for either Schmidt or Wulsin... What an idiot!

    OH-02: Wulsin Protested

    From the Ripley Bee:
ARNHEIM - Democratic Congressional candidate Dr. Victoria Wulsin was greeted by about 10 protesters when she met with approximately 30 people at the Monday, Aug. 18 Rural Life Conference of the St. Martin Deanery at St. Mary’s Church in Arnheim. The conference attracted public attention after a Letter to the Editor expressed concern for Wulsin’s views on abortion.

The protesters, led by Mike Meyer of Russellville, said they were offended that someone with pro-abortion views would be asked to speak at a Christian venue.

“We’re not here to support the Republican party,” Meyer said. “We’re not here to attack Catholics. Christians have always defended the innocent whether they have been born yet or not.”

When the question of her position on abortion was raised in the last five minutes of the meeting, the audience quickly became impassioned. She assured those gathered that she was not pro-abortion but was pro-choice.

“It is true that both my opponent and I should work to reduce the number of abortions,” Wulsin said. “I believe we can do that by providing good prenatal care and prevention. We need to prevent unintended pregnancies that lead to abortion.”
Wulsin said she has worked with the United States Agency for International Development to do just that. As a Red Cross advisor and through her work with the ENABLE project through the Center For Development and Population Action, Wulsin was able to work with families in Africa and Asia to increase child survival rates and provide family planning and primary care for families. According to Wulsin’s Communications Director Kevin Franck, a follow up study on the ENABLE project showed a decrease in the number of abortions in the regions of Africa and Asia in which Wulsin was working.

“We have been able to prevent abortions through limiting unintended pregnancies,” Wulsin said. “My opponent has done nothing to prevent the number of abortions.”
Wulsin is right! Jean Schmidt has done nothing to prevent the number of abortions except she co-sponsored bills to provide ultrasounds to pregnant mothers (H.R. 216); to require women having abortions be "fully informed regarding the pain experienced by their unborn child" (H.R. 356); to require the Food and Drug Administration withdraw its approval of the drug RU-486 because of safety concerns (H.R. 1079); and has been a long-time supporter of the pro-life movement even having served as president of Cincinnati Right to Life.

The "I'm pro-choice, not pro-abortion" line is a dodge typical of politicians. There is no difference in those positions: infanticide continues to happen and both the pro-choice and pro-abortion positions condone that brutal act.

It is also worth noting that she is willing to do work in Africa to actually reduce the number of abortions, but is not doing anything here in America. Why is that? Could it be that her friends at EMILY's List and NARAL wouldn't approve?

Lastly, why am I not reading about this in the Enquirer? 527 media outlests in this state have covered leftist protests numbering in single digits before...

    UPDATE: AP News Alert:
WASHINGTON (AP) Bush administration proposes stronger job protections for doctors refusing to do abortions.
Now, I know we can count on Rep. Jean Schmidt to be a supporter...but what about Wulsin and Kevorkian Krikorian?

    OH-02 Update

This came in from the Krikorian campaign sometime yesterday. I finally stopped laughing long enough to post it...
IndependentPoliticalReport.com has just ranked David Krikorian within the top 5 independent/third-party candidates of 2008 nationwide.

    IndependentPoliticalReport.com
    Article - August 15, 2008
    IPR correspondent Trent Hill

Top 10 independent/third-party candidates of 2008: Bird, Pollina, Sheehan lead the way
    Excerpt:

"4.) David Krikorian is an independent candidate for Congress in Ohio's 2nd district. He entered the race polling 13.4%, has polled as high as 26.5% in one county and 16.7% in another, and has raised $150,000. Krikorian will face Republican incumbent Jean Schmidt and Democratic challenger Victoria Wulsin on Election Day."

    IndependentPoliticalReport.com Article...

This November 4th, David Krikorian plans to make history by defeating his Republican and Democratic opponents sending a clear message to the parties that America has "had enough".

David Krikorian is a family man and Cincinnati-based business owner. He is not a professional politician and doesn't plan to spend the rest of his life in Washington. Like most Americans, David has seen enough partisan bickering, and too little in the way of creative and effective solutions to the issues and challenges ordinary Americans face every day. He has simply "had enough" of politics as usual, and he is doing something about it. David's campaign is not accepting contributions from PACs or special interest groups. When elected, David, a true Independent, will only be accountable to the people.
If David Krikorian is ranked in the top five independents in this cycle, it is going to be a particularly BRUTAL cycle for independents...

And not to be outdone, Vic Wulsin's communications director sent out this laugher:
Last week, Jean Schmidt's campaign had this to say to the website PolitickerOH:

Pfaff said Democrats are desperately launching attacks on Schmidt, who will “trounce” Dr. Vic Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) on Election Day.

“This is a red herring from the Democrats because they have the weakest candidate in the country,” he said of Wulsin, adding that their attacks are “baseless and juvenile” and lower public discourse.

Wow. Talk about lowering public discourse!

If you disagree with Schmidt's spokesperson, help Vic Wulsin fight back by giving $95 right now.

Schmidt's taxpayer-funded campaign spokesperson was responding to a press release issued by the Clermont County Democratic Party last week. The Clermont Dems found out that Jean Schmidt paid only 95$ in taxes on a 47 acre piece of property that could be worth as much as $4 million.

That's right. She paid $95 in taxes on a $4 million property.

Help defeat Jean Schmidt by donating $95 to Vic Wulsin today!

Apparently, Schmidt pays next to nothing in taxes by using a loop-hole intended for small family farmers, even though Schmidt's business is a commercial real estate development company. As Clermont County Democratic Party Chair Dave Lane says, something sounds "fishy."

Politicians in Washington just don't think they need to play by the same rules we live by. And unfortunately for families in Southern Ohio, Jean Schmidt is just another dishonest politician.

We know that Vic Wulsin is different. Vic Wulsin says she is tired of politicians putting themselves first, putting money first and putting special interests first.

Vic Wulsin will stand up for what is right in Washington and put Southern Ohio families first.

Vic needs your help to fight Jean Schmidt's smears and spread her positive message that government should be accountable to the people again, but she needs your help. Can you give $95 help send Vic Wulsin to Congress?

    Thanks,

    Kevin Franck
    Communications Director
    Wulsin for Congress
Do you smell that? That, my friends, is the smell of desperation in Camp Wulsin...

    OH-02: Olympics, China, and Wulsin

    HT: Ohio Daily Blog

Apparently, Vic Wulsin thinks that the Olympics currently going on in China is a good time to sound off about politics. The Cincinnati Enquirer has a comment from Virus Vic:
"With the eyes of the world on Beijing, the is an opportunity to tell the truth about the Chinese government's persecution of Christians, political prisoners and anyone else who refuses to toe the communist ideology."
    - Victoria Wulsin, Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District
Of course, Vic forgot to condemn medical experiments on the Chinese people.....you'd think that she would since she is so opposed to malariotherapy that she wrote one sentence against it in a 25+ page report describing how the Heimlich Institute should go forward with the project.

    I'm just saying...

    OH-02: EMILY's List Endorses Wulsin

In a not-so-shocking development, EMILY's List has endorsed Vic Wulsin in OH-02. But try finding that announcement on Vic Wulsin's campaign site. Why would Wulsin want to bury this news? Because while Wulsin's values are aligned with EMILY's List, the district does not support their principles. Wulsin will take their campaign cash and support while trying very hard to keep it secret.

Let's not forget what EMILY's List is all about...
A candidate must meet three qualifications to be considered for an EMILY’s List endorsement: back abortion rights, including the right to late-term (or ‘partial birth’) abortions; be a Democrat; and, in primary elections, be a woman.
We can have arguments over how much the demographics of the district have changed, but I would find it very difficult to believe that this is the sort of group that the good people of OH-02 would support. And that is why Team Wulsin hides the endorsement.

Despite the obvious risks of being associated with a radical group that wants to REINSTATE partial-birth abortion, Vic Wulsin has apparently decided that taking their money is worth the risk. EMILY's List DOES support the reinstatement of partial-birth abortion, though it hasn't been brain-dead enough to issue such a direct pronouncement; however, its reaction to the Supreme Court's upholding of the Federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act in April 2007 gives it away:
"This is a call to arms," said Ellen Moran, executive director of Emily's List, a Washington group that supports Hillary Clinton for president and raises money for Democratic women who back abortion rights. "You're going to see women become more politically active, make more contributions and really stand up and say, 'enough already.'"
This is the radical agenda that Vic Wulsin represents.

NOTE: Cross-posted to TheNextRight and RedState...

8/12/08 UPDATE: Need further proof that EMILY's List is a radical group with a radical agenda? In 2002, they withdrew their endorsement of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) for having the temerity to endorse a partial-birth abortion ban.

    Thursday, August 07, 2008

    Who is Daniel Hoffheimer?

...and why did he get a fundraising letter from Rep. Jean Schmidt?

Daniel Hoffheimer is a lawyer with Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He is also a contributer to the Democrats. He's given money to Obama and Kerry, Cranley and Driehaus (OH-01), Vic Wulsin (OH-02), and Sherrod Brown. (Source: FEC search)

This is no ordinary Democrat. According to this Keith Olbermann blog, Hoffheimer was John Kerry's lead lawyer in Ohio. It's Olbermann and it is MSNBC, so it HAS to be true...Hoff appears to be one of those who fanned the flames of the 2004 was stolen crowd before having to concede that the Kerry/Edwards team found "no conspiracy and no fraud" in Ohio.

On the other hand, he is also a contributer to WGUC, Cincinnati's classical music station, so he can't be all bad.

Note to Republicans in the Great State of Ohio: I'd run a check on your mailing lists and stop sending material to this guy. It is a waste of postage. Send it to somebody who is actually on our side...

UPDATE: Yes, it is odd that our friends at PolitickerOH failed to mention who this guy was...why do you ask?
    ...
Oh...because there was some question as to whether or not the fundraising letter was a legitimate piece of campaign mail? Seems then that Mr. Hoff's background might have shed some validity on the confusion...

    What's that?
    ...
Yeah, that does explain why the campaign spokesman -- who indicated to the reporter that he hadn't sen the piece -- might be suspicious. I'm pretty sure I'd be suspicious of Kerry/Edwards' lawyer too.
    ...
No, I haven't seen this letter either...somebody ought to scan that bad boy and make it available.
    ...
Yeah, I thought the article got a little off base when it ventured back in to malariotherapy too; but it's Vic Wulsin, so what are you going to do?
    ...
Oh, that was in the letter? Well, why didn't you say so.

Say, isn't it odd that Team Wuslin is complaining about oil in Cuba instead of malariothereapy? Yeah, I think so too...

UPDATE 2: I have no idea whether or not the letter was genuine or not...I haven't seen it.

UPDATE 3: MALARIOTHERAPY RETURNS! -- Oh yeah, I'm just going to take it at Steve Black's word...sure, I'm so totally going to do that.

Wulsin Finally Added to DCCC List

CQ Politics reports that Vic Wulsin has finally been added to the DCCC fundraising list.

    Monday, July 21, 2008

Is There a Connection Between Campaign Contributions and Unions/Special Interests and Vic Wulsin?

Vic Wulsin has received over $100,000 from unions since 2006. Is there a connection between campaign contributions and her positions on "card check" legislation and the minimum wage (1178 at that link)?

Vic Wulsin has received $20,000 from "womens" groups like NOW, NARAL, EMILY's List, Feminist Majority, and the OB-GYNs for Womens Health. Is there a connection between campaign contributions and her position on abortion?

Vic Wulsin has received $1500 from the Sierra Club. Is there a connection between campaign contributions and her position on expanding America's oil supply?

Hey, Sloat, do you really want to trade barbs on who just who is "bought and paid for"?

WMD Blast: Further Thoughts on Malariotherapy and Wind Power Edition

Before we get to the new stuff for the day, I wanted to take a few minutes to pick up a few ideas that I left out of a couple of items from yesterday...

    Malariotherapy

As I pointed out to Modern Esquire in the comments, I don't think Vic Wulsin is really the story. I think the real story is Heimlich and the malariotherapy. The reason why Wulsin has become the focus is that through her refusal to tell one story and stick to it, it appears that she is covering something up. Is she? Nobody knows for sure until someone gets her under oath. That's right...I don't know for sure what she knows, when she knew it, or how serious (or frivolous) the whole thing may be in the end. But I do know this:

  • When asked what the results of the review board was, Team Wulsin claimed that she had been exonerated when in fact, she hadn't.

  • That is why Team Wulsin had to revise their statement to say that the Board found no reason to take further action.

  • That means that it is possible that there may have been a problem with the complaint itself and did not, in fact, exonerate Wulsin.

  • When asked about her involvement in malariotherapy, Team Wulsin claims that Vic was hired to do a "literature review" of the procedure. Nothing more.

  • But when asked why she didn't blow the whistle on these horrible experiments on human beings, Team Wulsin claimed that they did and she got fired because of it.

  • Which means that Wulsin was not, in fact, hired to do a "literature review" for the Heimlich Institute because she would have expected her employment to have been over once she completed said "literature review".

  • Which brings up the question of who hired Wulsin in the first place. Was it Dr. Heimlich? Or the Heimlich Institute? Or was it Deaconess?

  • But here is the kicker...none of that really matters. The real crime is the malariotherapy experiments on human beings. The reason Wulsin is caught up in it is that there appears to be some sort of cover up going on to protect somebody (and I assume that somebody is Dr. Heimlich, the Institute, or Deaconess).

    Pickens and Wind Power

Having seen the presentation, I must admit it is compelling. But I keep asking myself: Am I looking at the conservative's answer to Al Gore? Could this guy actually be perpetrating a fraud in order to enrich himself?

Pickens is an oil man. That is where he made his riches. He also is invested in natural gas.

The Pickens Plan is all about replacing natural gas in the energy sector for infrastructure so that it can be shifted to transportation. I suspect that transportation has the potential to be a bigger market for a product that he is invested in...

The biggest problem that I see with the Pickens Plan is that he is expecting wind power to provide 22% of the nation's energy needs for infrastructure and that seems highly unlikely at best.

Still, being an "All of the Above" guy, I'm certainly willing to give it a shot... If it can be done, I think it should.

    On With The Show...

  • OH-02 "independent" candidate David Krikorian thinks that the government is keeping secrets on the high price of gasoline. I'd tell you more, but the intrepid reporter from the 527 media outlet didn't bother to ask him what he might think those secrets are...that might have been illuminating. UPDATE: I just got an email from the Krikorian campaign touting a video on this subject. I'll look in to it as soon as I can do so...

  • College Republican Cross-Country Tour of Congressional Districts Comes to Ohio:
We will be volunteering with Congressmen Steve Stivers, Steve Chabot, Mike Turner, Geoff Davis and Congresswoman Jean Schmidt. This weekend we will be doing voter outreach in Columbus by going door-to-door with local Ohio College Republicans. We will also be attending St. Rita's Church Festival in Cincinnati on Sunday to help campaign for Congressman Chabot. Throughout the next week we will be attending several other local events such as the Wright Air Force Base Festival in Dayton as well as the Adams County Fair. We plan to be in Columbus for most of the weekend and then in the Cincinnati/Dayton area for the majority of the week of the 14th.

  • Jean Schmidt and Jim Jordan participated in a series of one-minute speeches against the Congressional funding of Planned Parenthood. Learn more about that effort here.
