Congressman Speaks Out on Porno-Scanners and TSA Sexual Assaults

Good to see at least one Congressman gets that this is a problem.  Rep. John Duncan (R-TN) blasted TSA's Porno-Scanners and their sexual assaults on the floor of the US House of Representatives.

Sure wish I would hear of something like this coming from Steve Driehaus, Jean Schmidt, Mike Turner, Jim Jordan, Bob Latta, Charlie Wilson, Steve Austria, John Boehner, Marcy Kaptur, Dennis Kucinich, Marcia Fudge, Pat Tiberi, Betty Sutton, Steven LaTourette, Mary Jo Kilroy, John Boccieri, Tim Ryan, or Zach Space.  But so far, all I'm hearing out of our Members of Congress is...
...
...which is a real shame since at least one sexual assault occured right here in Ohio at the Dayton Internal Airport.

Meanwhile, I can't contain my disappointment in EVERY member of the Ohio House of Representatives and all but ONE Ohio Senator (thank you Gary Cates!).  Glad to see you all are right on top of protecting Ohioans...

Speaking of that, Governor Ted Strickland and Attorney General Rich Cordray can't be found with a search warrant on this issue.  Which puts them in the same category as John Kasich and Mike DeWine.

Unbelieveable.  You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

OH-09: Iott Statement on Kaptur Ad

Release:
Yesterday 28-year career politician Marcy Kaptur, in a desperate attempt to hold on to her seat in Congress, issued a blatantly false television advertisement attacking successful job creator Rich Iott. The Kaptur ad is riddled with falsehoods and the Iott Campaign is preparing to file a formal complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission.

By airing this egregious television ad, Marcy Kaptur has shown an utter disregard for the truth. Unfortunately, that's something that has become a pattern with the Congresswoman.
Rich Iott commented, "Marcy Kaptur blatantly lied in her first television ad. Apparently, she does not believe her record in Congress is worth talking about, so she has instead resorted to slinging mud and distorting the truth."

Rich Iott continued, "Kaptur's ad also reveals a how little understanding she has about how businesses are run. While Washington politicians like Kaptur desperately cling to their power, it's more and more evident that we need job creators in Congress. I understand what it takes to create jobs - something Kaptur knows nothing about."
The Iott campaign is releasing a new television ad to counter the blatantly false Kaptur commercial. The ad features Shari Nimigean, a 19- year employee of Food Town, dispelling the myths that Marcy Kaptur put forward. The ad will begin airing immediately and Ms. Nimigean will be available for comment at the request of the media.

OH-09: Rich Iott Introduces Business Partners, Highlights Job Creation in Local Economy

Release:
August 19, 2010 - Businessman Rich Iott introduced three business partners who star in campaign television ads that highlight his career as a job creator in Northwest Ohio at a news conference Thursday morning in western Lucas County.

These business partners are featured in current or upcoming television ads that the Iott for Congress campaign will be airing throughout this fall to share Rich Iott's ideas about congressional reform and priorities in Washington. The businesses have been responsible for well over 100 jobs in the fields of the construction trades, technology, and food processing - all in the Toledo area - and they all hold the promise of many more jobs in the future. These enterprises thrive today because of Rich Iott's business savvy and his commitment to the local economy.
"Whatever they are trying to do in Washington to help the economy here in northwest Ohio and across the country is not working, and to me, it's obvious why it's not working," said Mr. Iott. "The leaders in Washington appear only to care about helping their own special interests with no regard for the needs of Americans working in the private sector. The public sector does not create jobs, and the career politicians apparently have no idea what is needed to get the private sector working again. All they have done in the last 19 months is create monumental uncertainty and wreak havoc in the economy, picking the winners and losers and leaving all companies unsure about what new regulations and taxes might be coming next. "
While incumbent Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur claims her 'number one job' is to rob the federal treasury to reward her campaign contributors with millions of dollars, Rich Iott has worked to create many permanent jobs without any handout from the federal government. Rich Iott's campaign will emphasize his strong business experience because Congress is bereft of successful business leaders who understand what the private sector needs to thrive.

Another Cheating Ohio Dem: Marcy Kaptur

Gee, I thought this was going to be the most ethical, open, transparent Congress, like ever. Transparently greedy, arrogant, and self serving, maybe. From the New York Times:
TOLEDO, Ohio — Just one day after leaders of the House of Representatives announced a ban on earmarks to profit-making companies, Victoria Kurtz, the vice president for marketing of a small Ohio defense contracting firm, hit on a creative way around it.

To keep the taxpayer money flowing, Ms. Kurtz incorporated what she called the Great Lakes Research Center, a nonprofit organization that just happened to specialize in the same kind of work performed by her own company — and at the same address.

Now, the center — which intends to sell the Pentagon small hollow metal spheres for body armor that the Defense Department has so far declined to buy in large quantities and may never use — has $10.4 million in new earmark requests from Representative Marcy Kaptur, Democrat of Ohio.

The congresswoman, who has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Ms. Kurtz’s family and her business’s lobbyists, thought the quickly hatched nonprofit organization was a convenient solution.[...]

The proposed earmarks are among dozens — totaling more than $150 million — from around the country that would indirectly benefit profit-making companies, according to an examination by The New York Times of House appropriation requests submitted after the new rule was imposed in March.

Adopted because of repeated scandals over wasteful spending — the bridges to nowhere and expensive pet projects like a water-taxi service — the ban was intended to help eliminate earmark abuses. Critics say spending on earmarks, which added $16 billion to the federal budget last year, diverts money from higher priorities, typically does not require competitive bids and is often directed to experimental research that will never be used.

But given the appeal of free government money, the fees that lobbyists can earn by helping businesses grab a handful of it and the persistence of lawmakers in trying to satisfy constituents or donors, the pay-to-play culture in Washington has once again proved hard to suppress.

OK, so will she use the Lohan Defense-it wasn't explained to me properly; the "I didn't read the bill" defense, or plead insanity?

Fire this woman who is ripping off the American people, the military, and the citizens of Ohio.

A Message From Rep. Kaptur to OH-09 Constituents

From the E-mailbag:
Dear Residents of the Ninth Congressional District,

Thank you for voting for me and returning me to Congress for the past 28 years. During my years in Congress, while serving as your representative, we have accomplished the following, of which I am very proud:
(1) Congress has increased spending to unsustainable levels. When I began my service to you, the U.S. was about $1 trillion in debt. This year I expect that we will have increased our debt to over $14 trillion. I feel this is one of my greatest accomplishments.
(2) Congress has bailed out (greedy) banks, (greedy) Wall Street firms, and auto companies (which employ hard working men and women).
(3) Congress has hired more Federal workers than at any other time in the history of the United States. I am permitted to hire 18 full-time staff members for my office alone, as are all other members of Congress. When I started, my pay was $69,800 per year. Today it is $174,000 per year. The Federal Government is now the nation's largest employer. Including contract employees which the government pays for, there are over 14 million federal workers. Not counting contract workers, the government writes pay checks to over 2.5 million workers, the largest amount ever. When I began my career in Congress, there were barely 1 million workers on government payrolls. We've come a long way.
(4) Government workers are paid more than all you chumps in the private sector. The average federal government worker now makes $67,691 plus $40,785 in benefits. Private sector employees average $60,046 and much less in benefits. A government janitor, for example, makes $30,000 while one in the private sector makes $24,000 per year. I'm so happy I've been able to take care of government (union) workers and that there are so many of them now. Thank you all for paying for not only my salary, but for the salary of my staff and all the government workers.
(5) We have now placed control of your health care in the good hands of the Federal Government. My vote helped to ensure that your treatment options when you are sick will be determined by the Federal bureaucracy.
(6) We have successfully limited the energy supply of our country and, during my 28 years in Congress, my votes have helped to ensure that we are more dependent on foreign countries for our energy supply each year. In 1981, just before I came to Congress, 43.6% of our oil came from foreign sources. Today, with my help in voting against new drilling in our country, 66.2% of our oil comes from foreign sources. I'm particularly proud that we are sending billions of dollars each month to our enemies.
(7) Finally, I'm proud of the fact that only 52% of our citizens have to pay income taxes and that, because of my votes and those of my fellow Democrats in Congress, 48% of our citizens get a totally free ride. Haven't we made this the greatest country in the history of the world?
I hope you appreciate all I have done for you these past 28 years. I know that, since I do so many nice things for my constituents, you will all continue to blindly vote for me when I am up for re-election.
Sincerely,

Marcy
