Coulter About Rush
So liberals have finally found a drug addict they don't like. And unlike the Lackawanna Six – those high-spirited young lads innocently seeking adventure in an al-Qaida training camp in Afghanistan – liberals could find no excuses for Rush Limbaugh.
After years of the mainstream media assuring us that Rush was a has-been, a nobody, yesterday's news – the Rush painkiller story was front-page news last week. (Would anyone care if Howell Raines committed murder?) The airwaves and print media were on red alert with Rush's admission that, after an unsuccessful spinal operation a few years ago, he became addicted to powerful prescription painkillers.

Matt's Chat
While I can do without the Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy references (why must conservatives do this? Stick to the issue at hand, please!), Ms. Coulter makes some good points about Rush and the coverage of his drug addiction. I don't feel sorry for Rush. But I do believe he is entitled to the same standards that everyone else is held to even if those standards are lower than he himself espoused. I'm taking a wait and see attitude about Rush. I need to see what is going to happen before I condemn him...Mark's Remarks
This is one point where I must disagree with my friend Matt...See, that is what is great about true friendships, you don't have to be afraid to disagree, and you can do so without fear of personal attack. The Clinton and Kennedy references ARE relevant...how many times have we been told that it does not matter what Clinton did morally or illegally, that "he really was a good President"? how many times have we been told to look past Mr. Kennedy's NUMEROUS drunken escapades? How many times have liberals embarrassed themselves and this country, and people have been told to ignore issues because it is "personal?" Well, then the same needs to be true for Rush. Ms. Coulter is trying to defend her position of what the media are: liberal lapdogs who tout the liberal mottoes and talking points, and how liberals use the media patsies to try to influence American public opinion, and to shape how we view history and events. As far as me personally, the thing I can agree with is about the wait and see attitude. While I do not feel "sorry" for Rush in the sense of 'well, its ok', I do feel sorry that he as a human being has had to go through the unfortunate trials of addiction, and the massive pain he has gone through. I felt that about several people involved in addiction. Addiction is dangerous because it is mental and physical. However, it can be overcome. I feel for what Rush is going through, as I have faced issues with addictions other than drugs in my own life. It is a continuing battle, and I hope and pray he comes out of it better.
So, I believe Coulter is making cogent arguments. She is crying out about the patent double standard. Everyone ignores a liberal when they do something, get caught with their pants down (Kennedy, Clinton) and even gloss over obstruction of justice (clinton- it was sex, everyone lies about sex). That is what makes her points cogent and right on.
