Domino Quagmire (?)

It's all beginning to sound familiar. The Iraq adventure may have been a strategic mistake, our intelligence and tactical calculations may have been faulty, the cost in money and blood may have exceeded estimates, the expectations for success may have been inflated, but we can't reverse course now.
...
Terrorism, the great fear, the catalyst that will presumably topple the dominoes, has already arisen in Iraq (where it didn't exist before) - not because of American failure, but because of American presence. In a weird kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, our invasion and occupation created a magnet for terrorism, and now, we are told, we must remain to combat it as a supreme test of our national will and perseverance.

Matt's Chat

Okay children, repeat after me, "This is NOT Vietnam." Not even close. If the author really believes that the world would be better off with Saddam Hussein still in control of Iraq rather than Mr. Bremer and the provisional government, he should seriously reconsider his position. Here is an interesting piece on casulaties that should help put this into perspective.

As for terrorism in Iraq: the terrorists were there all along, they didn't bother blowing themselves up under Saddam because the terrorists LIKED Saddam. Think about that for a minute. Yeah, that's what I thought...that argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense now does it? I, for one, would much rather face terrorists in Iraq than in America. Terrorist groups are expending their energies in Iraq rather than here. Our time is coming though because these terrorists are going to realize that they aren't achieving their goals in Iraq and then they will come. I hope I'm wrong, but the hatred that these guys feel for all of us (including the liberals - you all ARE Americans too) is just too great.

Mark's Remarks

But Matt, it will be Vietnam all over again if we allow the liberals in the media and in Congress to continue their shameless demoralization of our troops. I do not know of how many emails from friends serving in Iraq I have gotten that are fed up with the press coverage. Of course, that does not matter, because they probably are just mind manipulated by Bush. Liberals claim to care about our soldiers, and they constantly demoralize them on the other hand. Do they think we are too dumb to see what they are trying to do?

And remember, dear liberals, it was your side that ruined Vietnam....LBJ anyone?

See, liberals want Vietnamization of Iraq...they want our troops demoralized...they want us to lose....at least those liberals who have such an unabiding hatred for Bush that it clouds everything they do, such as the DemoDunce 9. They want the economy to tank, they want more troops killed. They even called, our troops a gang. Extrapolate this: Al Sharpton called our President, the commander-in-chief and leader of the military, a gang leader. Therefore, by simple deduction, he is saying our soldiers are nothing more than a street gang writ large. Of course, he will tell you he didn't mean that, but that is typical liberal: verbal diarehea, then claim ignorance and misquoting as your defense.
