UN Unanimously Agrees to US Resolution on Iraq

In a diplomatic victory for the United States, the Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution Thursday aimed at attracting aid to stabilize Iraq and putting it on the road to independence.

The vote bolstered U.S. efforts to win credibilty for its rebuilding effort in Iraq and to ease the burden of American troops there. But at a summit in Brussels, European leaders ruled out any immediate commitments of troops and money for Iraq.

Matt's Chat

This is a big and long overdue diplomatic win for the United States of America. I'm still not sure that we "need" the United Nations or this resolution, but I am glad that we have it.

Mark's Remarks

No, we do not need the United Nations, but Mr. Bush does to make the democrats shut up....I am glad the other nations of the world are tired of making the Iraqi people suffer by their posturing and not helping us to speed Iraq on the road to recovery...Leave it to the UN to take positions over substance. They don't care about helping, they don't care about rights..they only want to look like the UN is the superior influence..and they can go jump in the river......
