Al Gore Blasts the President

Former Vice President Al Gore accused President Bush on Sunday of failing to make the country safer after the Sept. 11 attacks and using the war against terrorism as a pretext to consolidate power.

"They have taken us much farther down the road toward an intrusive, 'big brother'-style government - toward the dangers prophesied by George Orwell in his book '1984' - than anyone ever thought would be possible in the United States of America," Gore charged.

Gore, who lost the disputed 2000 presidential election to Bush, said terrorism-fighting tools granted after Sept. 11 amount to a partisan power grab that have led to the erosion of the civil liberties of all Americans.

Matt's Chat

Mr. Gore, if your former boss had done his job and protected America, we might not be in this position. 9/11 changed the world, not just the United States. It is time people like you understand that. The president's most serious responsibility is to protect the citizens of the United States from both foreign and domestic sources of harm. What did Mr. Clinton do that was decisive? He believed Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction. He believed that Saddam was a threat? What did he do, if anything? (I believe this will be the Liberal Challenge for the week) Was the action that Mr. Clinton took decisive? Because this president has taken action that has brought about a change in the condition of Saddam's reign of terror.

Mr. Gore, another thing, you can't have it both ways. You can't criticize the administration for "big brother tactics" and then turn around and say that the administration isn't doing enough. Tell me, Mr. Gore, what would you have done differently? I'm hearing a lot of verbal diaherria but not a whole lot of what your plan is for defeating terrorism. If we are to take you seriously, you have to have something to contribute to the discussion. It appears that you don't.

Mark's Remarks

Of course he can have it both ways Matt, that is the Liberal M.O. Dally in both directions until the polls come in, and waffle daily....Look at Jean Kerry, look at Nikita Dean, look especially at Wesley Clark. Liberals are so insane in their hatred of Dubya that they would seek to destroy and endanger American Security.

Mr. Gore, shame on you and your liberal elite cohorts for politicizing this war so much, and aiding and comforting the terrorists we are trying to fight.....Where is your plan, Al? Oh wait, we saw your ideas....Let's see...Take campaign contributions from the enemy and give them our missile technology (China and North Korea). Attack an enemy with missile strikes that do not assure success, including attacking a baby food factory, and pull out troops after some are massacred, rather than seeking their enemies (Somalia, Khartoum, Iraq). Also, gut our human intelligence, then blame the gutted intelligence agencies when they fail because of your cuts (of course, Bubba, Joe Liberman, and Jean Kerry all voted for decimating the CIA and handcuffing it). Call acts which have to go through rigorous judicial procedures negating Civil Liberties, in the midst of a war for the saving of Civilization (the buzz over the Patriot Act). What, Mr. Gore, do you have something to hide? Maybe more Buddha money? If you and the administration you worked for would have spent more time defending the nation, rather than worry about Bubba's legacy and your own enrichment, then maybe 3,000 New Yorkers might be home with their families instead of being part of the worst terror attacks in history. Maybe you would have realized the devastation if you would have paid closer attention to the 1st WTC bombing, instead of worrying abour raising money in Long Island....Maybe if you would have actually listened to some of the Islamic Friends of Bill, then maybe you could have prevented this...But of course, you were singing "Don't Stop" and trying to create a myth of a knowledgeable President, when all we had was an adulterous lecher married to a shrew, and a robot yes man in the no. 2 slot.

Well, enough of sinking to liberal name calling, and I am sure I am focusing on "the past" too much, so lets look at the present. What is your plan, Mr. Gore? If you are such an expert, why aren't you running? If you know so much, why aren't you in the race? If your party is the right one, then why haven't they come up with a vision? Why is it the only vision you have is one of hatred for Bush? The reason is that your party has become devoid of ideas, except what is politically feasible for power acquisition. Shame on you, Mr. Gore, and shame on your fellow liberals for twisting things around the way you have.....If you were as serious about your former job as you are about bashing Bush, maybe you could have stopped 9/11.....

Anyway, is Algore trying to look like Bubba? Look at those extra 40 pounds, the more shag hairdo, the gestures.....What next, he cheat on Tipper the wonder dog with a Mutt Intern?
