I really don't like judicial activism. At any level, it can cause serious problems. I'm not convinced that that is what is really going on in this case, but it sounds as if it COULD happen.Mark's Remarks
OK, so this Doctor used to be a lesbian. She adopted a child, making her the custodial parent, in fact the only parent, as Colorado, much as other states, does not have the advocacy of gay marriage. As the only parent, the former partner of Clark has no parental rights, and this should not be discussed. However, this judge decided to change the law from the bench, and now is impinging on the rights of Clark to practice her religion. You see, the reason for this lesbian breakup is that Clark became a Christian, and has become heterosexual. The judge, John Couglin, told Clark that she cannot take her daughter to a church that espouses "homophobic" messages, and should not bring her around anything that could be construed as homophobic. The suit brings up the issue that the girl saw a message, a Christian pamphlet or two, promoting Promise Keepers and Focus on the Family.
Ok, Judge Coughlin, who are you to regulate the religion and parenting of this woman, Dr. Clark? When did judges decide they coud decide to hinder religious practice? When did people who have no legal claim, and who did not adopt the child, have a claim to visitation? This is madness. It is more liberal legislating politically correct garbage from the bench...and that is putting it civilly. To use a phrase I hear amongst students, it sucks. There is no justice in this. It is paying lip service to the gay lobby, as liberals are apt to pander to these special interest groups. A shame that a mother cannot have the right of free expression of religion with her child, because a judge wants to advance an agenda instead of adjudicating. I hope the appeals court does the right thing and overturns this sham of a case, and I hope Judge Coughlin is booted.
