Nikita Wants Government To Be HUGE

After years of government deregulation of energy markets, telecommunications, the airlines and other major industries, Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean is proposing a significant reversal: a comprehensive "re-regulation" of U.S. businesses.

The former Vermont governor said he would reverse the trend toward deregulation pursued by recent presidents -- including, in some respects, Bill Clinton -- to help restore faith in scandal-plagued U.S. corporations and better protect U.S. workers.

In an interview around midnight Monday on his campaign plane with a small group of reporters, Dean listed likely targets for what he dubbed as his "re-regulation" campaign: utilities, large media companies and any business that offers stock options. Dean did not rule out "re-regulating" the telecommunications industry, too.

Matt's Chat

Nikita is a closet communist. Regulation of the MEDIA for crying out loud? I don't think so. And there are fools who call BUSH the greatest threat...sheesh, man...

Mark's Remarks

As far as the media goes, Matt, it might as well already be regulated by a liberal government, such is the madness of the groupthink over there. No, what Nikita Dean wants is not the regulation of the CBS, etc., but the EIB, and other conservative leaning broadcast companies...Wow, for being supposedly the frontrunner of the party of tolerance and divergent view acceptance, he does not sound very open minded, does he? This man wants to go backwards, not forwards, in the expansion of freedoms to individuals. He wants to take a step back....Maybe he had a Freudian slip when he said he wanted those with Confed flags to support him? Sounds like crap the Redeemers and Grand Wizards tried to do to the press and dissent before the CW and even during Reconstruction.....

Mr. Dean is a danger to the freedoms we Americans enjoy. He is practically talking huge censorship across the board. He is hoping to regulate businesses beyond belief. You really want to know why those manufacturing jobs and the like are migrating overseas and below the border? OVER-FREAKIN-REGULATION. The Liberalistas and Clintonites put so much regulation of businesses in govt. rules and the like that businesses see other countries that want the jobs, and they go there. It is not the fault of Dubya these jobs left. It is the fault of Big Brother Advocates like Dean and the rest of the Liberal Elite in his party.
