Another Victory in the War on Terror

From My Way News (AP):
Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the founder and leader of the Hamas militant group that targeted Israelis in suicide bombings, was killed by missiles fired from Israeli helicopters as he left a mosque at daybreak Monday, witnesses said.

Hamas confirmed the death in an announcement broadcast over mosque loudspeakers and vowed revenge against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Witnesses said Israeli helicopters fired three missiles at the wheelchair-bound Yassin and two bodyguards as they left the mosque, killing them instantly.

A total of four people were killed and 12 were wounded in the attack, witnesses said.

Yussef Haddad, 35, a taxi driver, said he saw the missiles hit Yassin and the bodyguards.

"Their bodies were shattered," he said.

Yassin was by far the most senior Palestinian militant killed in more than three years of Israeli-Palestinian fighting. Since September 2000, 474 people - the majority of them Israelis - have been killed in 112 Palestinian suicide bombings.

Matt's Chat

Another one down...perhaps we will see peace in our time afterall.

Update: Vatican Condemns Attack

The Vatican continues to not get it.
"The Holy See joins the international community in deploring this act of violence not justified in any state (run by) the rule of law," said Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls.

The statement said authentic and lasting peace "cannot be the fruit of a simple show of force" but is "above all the fruit of moral and legal action".
As a "recovering" Catholic, I am outraged at the moral relativism of the Vatican. If anybody should understand the struggle against evil, it should be the Vatican...

Another Update

The Next Black Helicopter Theory for Howard Dean

From My Way News (AP):
The United States strongly denied any involvement in the assassination on Monday of Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and appealed for calm in the region following his death.

White House national security advisor Condoleezza Rice said in a round of interviews on U.S. television stations that the United States did not have advance warning of the assassination.
Come on Howard...I know you want to say something. Go ahead, make a fool of yourself again... And I dare John Kerry to make that accusation.

Mark's Remarks

If only Arafat would have been in the same mosque, then two problems solved!!!!! We should be standing with Israel, not offering condemnation by our silence. Israel is taking it to these terrorists, and they have been very successful over the years. I say, way to go!

Secondly, Hamas associated Palestinian terrorists killed a handicapped man in a wheelchair, beating him, shooting him, then throwing him overboard of the Achillie Lauro. Where was the Palestinian and world outrage at killing a man in a wheelchair then? IT just doesn't wash. This guy killed by Israeli attacks was a terrorist, and encouraged terrorism. He was against us. Hey, at least he is like with 7 virgins now, right? BUZZ!!!! Wrong again. Where he is, it is awful hot and not comfortable. Enjoy it, murderer.
