Another Clinton Apologist on MSNBC
From MSNBC:So to boil all this down, we went to war, sacrificed thousands of human lives, racked up billions in bills, and flouted the rules of international law for three basic reasons: Israel, oil, and the vengeance of a son whose father didn't finish off Saddam and then was targeted for assassination by the Iraqi Horror Show in 1993? When you think that Bill Clinton was impeached and almost tossed out of office for fooling around with a willing intern and then lying about it, his sins seem like very small potatoes. Very small potatoes indeed.
Matt's Chat
Note that this is the final paragraph and the author finally gets to what he wanted to say. What we have here is yet another Clinton apologist who doesn't understand the concept of the War on Terror.I believe that now is as good of a time as any for the President to remind the American people why it is we are fighting this war. If our media were really looking out for us, we would be seeing 9/11 footage. We would be hearing more about the atrocities Saddam committed against his own people. We'd be hearing more about the UN scam known as "Oil for Food." We'd be hearing about uprisings in Iran and Syria. We'd be hearing about the terror plots that have been thwarted (and where the weapons came from).
Oddly enough, I think this has more to do with Clinton's legacy than anything else. Clinton sank a lot of political capital into peace in the Middle East. He was hoping that he would be the man to broker the deal. When his minions see that the Bush plan has a real chance of actually achieving real, lasting peace in the region; they come out swinging in defense of their guy. All he had to do was take decisive action; but it was too much of a gamble for Clinton, and so he did what he thought he could get away with: useless missile strikes and talking.
The Iraq War was not about HALLIBURTON! oil (how about them prices, eh?), vengeance (Clinton should have taken care of that - if W thought the Cole happened on Clinton's watch and too much time had passed to take action, what makes you think he'd feel compelled to take action over a failed assassination plot?), or Israel (at least not specifically - peace in the Middle East would effect Israel, but the goal here really is to make the WORLD more secure by dealing with the Islamofascist threat.). It is about waging a war against terrorists at the source: those who fund and support it.
Mark's Remarks
This guy thinks the war is about oil, vengeance, and Israel? What a friggin' moron!!!! Sir, this war is a continuing thread in stopping plots like 9/11 from coming to fruition. It is about taking it to the enemy, before threats come knocking on our door. It is about holding others accountable for their innuendo and threats. It is about our security. And, sir, you hold up Bill Clinton as an icon? You are a sad and pathetic hack, are you sure your last name isn't Carville? Let's review:
1993-2000- Bill Clinton's term in office
During these years, here is what happened:
1st WTC Bombing. Response: issue warrants and posture, don't even visit the site.
Blackhawk Down: Turn tail and run and embolden terrorists.
Embassy Bombings: More posturing and big speeches, little substance
Khobar Towers: more of the same
USS Cole: yep, more posturing and hand wringing, and feeling pain.....
There was no response, even as American lives and treasure were wasted away....Even as we had a President more concerned with who was UNDER his desk rather than actions on his desk......This is a man who had offers from the Sudan and chose not to take them. This is a man who was in a position to take out UBL and chose not to. This is a man who SAID HIMSELF THAT IRAQ HAD WMD. If Bush is lying about the weapons, wasn't Bill Clinton?
Bill Clinton allowed threats to gather...Hell, when it came to North Korea and China, he gave them help building up the threat....How can you defend such a legacy, or make his reprehensible irresponsibility less than it was?
Bill Clinton should not have been impeached for Monica....he should have been impeached for gross dereliction of duty.....nuff said....
