Crispy Rice Treats - Blending the Truth
From Newsday.com:If you knew that President Franklin D. Roosevelt had received a memo a month before Pearl Harbor entitled, "Japanese Determined to Attack the United States in the Pacific," and that he had done nothing about that information, would that knowledge change your perception of FDR as a wise war leader?
Roosevelt received no such memo, of course, but President George W. Bush got a blunt warning five weeks before 9/11 and he did little or nothing. He even presided over a stand- down in preparations, concentrating on other concerns

Let the partisan attacks begin! Will this man declare himself a false prophet when the PDB actually gets released? He has no clue what is actually in that document. He tries to place Rice in the position where she has all sorts of political motivations, yet doesn't shed the same light Ben-Vineste or Kerrey. This one will be going in to the Partisan Media (tm) bias file... And I will be fisking this one when the PDB gets released later this week.
Here is a conservative view of the same matierial via the New York Post.
Did these guys see the same testimony?
UPDATE
PDB ReleasedWhile I was busy doing other things over the weekend, looks like the Aug. 6 PDB was released. Here it is courtesy of FOX News
Mark's Remarks
First, let's look at Mr. Pinkerton's comparison with Pearl Harbor. Mr. Pinkerton, history shows that FDR received the VERY SAME kinds of threat warnings that this President did: veiled references to possible attack somewhere in the US Pacific sphere of influence, maybe even Alaska or California. Nothing specific. Therefore, I guess according to the logic of Mr. Pinkerton, FDR is responsible for Pearl Harbor. He could have prevented it! Let the investigations begin! Remove him from the Dime!
Come on....does anybody who isn't totally paranoid honestly believe that a President would allow mass slaughter to ensue, especially with a supposed paper trail? That is lunacy, and that is just what we get from Mr. Pinkerton.
I told you all, this is what will continue to happen as the PDB is released from Aug. 6: lib hacks will take things out of context, mix and mince words to paint this President as aloof and uncaring prior to 9/11, when all testimony and on the record statements say he was not (we discount Dick Clarke because he says one thing then another, and he has no credibility, except to Katie Couric, who I am sure wants to have Dickie's baby). The record shows that this President was working on a comprehensive terror strategy, that he was being briefed by the CIA head (Clinton was briefed by Tenet no more than 5 times in EIGHT YEARS), and we were working to change the face of the world. Of course, libs will say we were distracted, even though their guy had 8 years to remake government to better fend off terror, and all he did was add to the structural barriers. Our guy had 233 days, and he came in on ramped up partisanship because of the Florida fiasco. Anyone who is even slightly rational will come to the conclusion that things would not have been done even if they were fast tracked.
If Bush had said: Al queda is planning to attack somewhere, sometime, and we need to remake government in 2 months or people will die...Does anyone who is not a partisan hack for the big D think that the Ds in Congress would have moved? No way, they would have called for impeachment or accused the President of overreacting. Look at the fights Reagan went through, when we did have a clear threat from the Soviet Union. How did libs handle it then?
Mr. Pinkerton, your reporting is a joke. Your article is full of arrogant supposition that is a hallmark of the Left, and you show yourself to be nothing more than an elitist propagandizer for the Ketchup Attack Squad.
