Gorelick Backlash

This is CNN:
Jamie Gorelick, a member of the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, said Saturday that she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives alleged that her former work in the Justice Department may have contributed to failures leading to the attacks.
...
"I can confirm that I've received threats at my office and my home," she told CNN on Saturday. "I did get a bomb threat to my home."

She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails. The bomb threat was by phone."

ABC News first reported the story Saturday.

The threats were "scary," she said, but added that she was "not intimidated enough to resign from the commission."

A law enforcement source told CNN that the FBI is investigating the threats.

Matt's Chat

This sort of thing is not to be condoned at all. We want the woman to testify under oath; we certainly don't wish her harm. No American should consider such a thing as being remotely positive.

I wish the FBI luck in tracking down these miscreants, assuming they exist, and bring them to swift but sure justice.

Mark's Remarks

It is wrong that Ms. Gorelick's life has been tossed upside down and she feels she is in danger. I hope the FBI gets these threatmakers and brings them to justice.

However, it IS ALSO wrong that Ms. Gorelick refuses to see how she jeopardizes the small smidgeon of respectability in this commission by staying on it. It is also wrong that she refuses to testify, and thinks that she can honestly evaluate the administration she was a part of as well as its replacement with impunity. It is also wrong that the American people have wasted so much money and time on a commission that has become a parody and joke of what it was meant to do.
