Insourcing in Dayton OH

From OFII.org:
LexisNexis, a subsidiary of Britain’s Reed Elsevier Group, recently announced construction on a new research and development facility in Springfield. The new data management center will employ 80 people in addition to its 3,000 employees already located in the Dayton area.

Matt's Chat

How come we don't hear about these jobs, Sen. Kerry? Partisan Media? Hamsters?

Want more ammo? How about this:
U.S. subsidiaries in Ohio have consistently supported a significant number of jobs in the state. They now employ 242,200 Ohio workers - an increase of nearly 7% over five years.

In comparison to other states, Ohio has proven to be an attractive location for international employers, ranking 10th in the United States in the number of employees supported by U.S. subsidiaries.

In fact, the relative portion of jobs in the state supplied by U.S. subsidiaries has remained strong over time. They provide the livelihood for nearly 5% of Ohio's private-sector workforce.
Sure, I know what you're thinking...who are these companies?
PROMINENT U.S. SUBSIDIARIES IN THE STATE

ABB Inc., Ahold USA, BASF Corporation, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bridgestone Corporation, DaimlerChrysler, Honda, ICI Americas, Inc., L'Oreal USA, Inc., Nestlé USA, Inc., Reed Elsevier, Rodenstock North America, Saint-Gobain Corporation, Siemens Corporation, Signet Group, Sodexho Inc., Tomkins Industries
But what about manufacturing jobs?
U.S. subsidiaries support 116,900 manufacturing jobs in Ohio. Manufacturing companies tend to have a strong "multiplier" effect on the economy-stimulating a substantial amount of activity and jobs in other sectors through their demand for inputs from other suppliers.

Overall, approximately 48% of jobs at U.S. subsidiaries in Ohio are in manufacturing industries.

Mark's Remarks

I blame Big Ketchup....after all, most of their factories (57 of 79) are outside the country. I demand an investigation!!!!! Surely this is made up! Ted Kennedy cannot (hiccup) be wrong! So what if he can't spend 5 minutes sober, can't drive a car, and cannot tell the truth in a wrongful death, he can't be wrong! John Kerry can't be wrong- even though he has been on the wrong side of history in every vote he has made, he can't possibly have been distorting, could he?

The answer, of course, is a definitive yes!

Just think how great Ohio would have it if Bob (Republican in Name Only) Taft would quit taxing the hell out of companies and the people and promote job creation.
