Job Numbers are Out
From CBS MarketWatch:U.S. nonfarm payrolls grew by a surprising 308,000 in March, the largest gain since April 2000, the Labor Department estimated Friday.
...
The gain in payrolls far exceeded the 122,000 expected by economists surveyed by CBS MarketWatch. Economists had been waiting in vain for months for hiring to pick up to match the explosive growth in U.S. gross domestic product over the past nine months.
Matt's Chat
So much for the "jobless recovery" meme... In the interest of disclosure, jobless claims climbed a whole tenth of a point to 5.7... Yes, it is still lower than the average of the 70s, 80s, and 90s... Will John Effing Kerry say anything about that?As an aside, I knew I saw this stat somewhere else before, but this is the first place I have seen it since I saw it the first time:
Average hourly earnings rose 2 cents, or 0.1 percent, to $15.54 an hour.Keep in mind folks, that is a NATIONAL average. Your mileage may vary...mine sure does.
Mark's Remarks
Get ready for the Mother of All Misdirections(tm). Kerry has resisted talking about the 5.7 % jobless rate, instead he has focused on jobs lost, etc., because it is more dramatic. Now, that jobs are being created rapidly, that argument is losing steam and proving to be the red herring that those of us who believed in the Bush Tax Cuts knew it to be. Now, he is going to go out there and talk about the unemployment rate rising 1%. But, when he does this, it will open up what Matt talked about, that this unemployment rate is below the Average rate for the 70s, 80s, and 90s. He will further equivocate, looking the fool that he is. Get ready, be ready for it, and remember I called this one.
But, let's look at the 5.7%...why did it go up even as more jobs are being created across the board? Well, due to job creation, maybe more people were encouraged to look for jobs and joined the statistics again....maybe people are actually having hope instead of the FEAR(tm) Kerry and his lib hamster surrogates have been preaching....
The sound of hamster suicide and gnashing of their little hamster teeth is further proof that what is good for America (job growth and creation, winning the war on Terror) is bad news for liberals and Dims. Isn't it sad to be rooting against American interests and prosperity just so you can gain power? However, that is what the libs are doing.....kind of makes you wonder whose side they are on, eh?
