Kerry Does the Clinton Manuever

From FOX News:
In his speech, Kerry said it was time to make four years of college affordable and available to all who want it.

"We'll help you pay for school, and we'll help even more if you're willing to serve your country. And together, we'll make 2004 the last year that debt and dollar signs come before degrees and dreams for the future."

Matt's Chat

Folks, let me tell you a story.

I voted for Clinton the first time. And this was the very reason. Clinton hit Bush 41 hard on the rising costs of college education. I was duped.

The President of the United States has no control of the cost of college. None. If you want to stablize the cost of higher education, you need to get involved in the decision making process AT YOUR SCHOOL. University presidents and the Boards of Regents at schools all over this nation have been recklessly spending your tuition dollars. Want to fix it? Get involved in student government and start attending those board meetings.

Empty rhetoric from a tax and spend liberal who wants your vote isn't going to get it done. Like most things of value; if you want it, you have to work for it.

Mark's Remarks

More pandering to the Teen Voters, and young voters. Why not? It worked for Clinton..but what happened? Tuition continued to rise.....

As a person who was deeply involved in college politics at the student and actual administrative level, Matt has a correct and unique insight into this situation.

Here is another: the Constitution, through the reserved powers issue in Amendment 10, gives STATES power over education. It is a state function, and maybe in addition to asking schools themselves about tuition, maybe we need to ask the state governments themselves......

This is nothing more than a nice pandering plot, just as the whole 10 million jobs issue in four years. NEWSFLASH: according to most economic forecasts, those 10 million jobs are coming anyway, it is what is projected by nonpartisan economists, based on our current rates of growth. Mr. Kerry HAS NO STRATEGY, he is merely saying what Bush has been saying, that the jobs are on the way.....Geez, people, look behind the hype to the facts. Kerry, as I and Matt have stated again and again, is typical of the Dims- he has no vision, no moral or ethical core, and is bent on power for power's sake. Don't give him his wish. Send him back to Taxachusetts crying in his ketchup.
