Kossacks Attack!
Hamster Democrats are losing perspective on this Kos thing. Here is an opportunity for the mainstream, moderate members of the Democratic Party to say enough of the insanity.I'm not encouraged that will actually happen.
The Kossacks are now saying that Republicans don't want to start the "association" game, but I'll gladly dispense with the HALLIBURTON! conspiracy theories over the likes of Kos. The only laundry that I smell is the Kossacks'. They rarely admit their mistakes and always demand an investigation. Not this time.
John Kerry HIMSELF realized that Kos had gone off the deep end with his comments and delinked the Daily Kos. If it was bad enough for John Kerry to pull out, shouldn't it be enough for Jane? Or is Sen. Kerry missing some special nuance here? Kos didn't "disavow" the comment, he made excuses for it. No amount of nuance can take away from what Kos actually said:
Every death should be on the front pageThese are AMERICANS that Kos is talking about. The question remains: Will you vote for a politician who support Kos' point of view? That being said, if Jane or any other politican wants to continue advertising with Kos, doesn't the constituency deserve to know about it?
Let the people see what war is like. This isn't an Xbox game. There are real repercussions of Bush's folly.
That said, I feel nothing over the death of mercenaries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.
UPDATE
Jane has pulled her Kos advertising. We have made the decision to remove our advertising from that website, to assure that there is no confusion about my position on this matter. But I want to be clear on one point: this decision is not because of any "pressure" I have received. It is a personal decision, and one I have not made lightly.Jane deserves credit for taking appropriate action.
Mark Says--No Credit!!!
First of all, the Hamster who Matt cited as talking about death by association thing, they are doing nothing but misdirection. I am sorry, Brian, but quite frankly, if someone said this, they should be reprimanded, and if you advertise on their site for political office, the voting public HAS A RIGHT TO KNOW.... You, Bri, are engaging in defending the indefensible. Even hamster Savior of the Moment John Kerry pulled his ads and links....shouldn't that tell you something?
Now, as to Jane....she deserves no credit. She is trying to say her decision was not based on pressure, etc. BULL!!!! From what I hear from friends out in blogoland, her offices were besieged with calls once this story broke. And, if she was so insulted and knew what to do, why did it take her this long? Quite simply, she is doing the politically expedient thing. If people didn't call her on it, she would still be advertising with the moron hamster that is Kos, whose ramblings are not worth a bucket of hot monkey spit.
