UBL to Europe: Let's Play the Appease Game Again

From the AP via MyWay.com
DUBAI (Reuters) - An audio tape purportedly by Osama bin Laden and aired on Arab TV Thursday, offered a truce to Europeans if they withdrew troops from Muslim nations but vowed to continue fighting the United States and Israel.

The voice on the tape, which a European security source said appeared to be authentic, also said the March 11 train bombings in Madrid that killed 191 people were retaliation for Spain's role in Iraq, Afghanistan and with the Palestinians.

"I offer a truce to them (Europe) with a commitment to stop operations against any state which vows to stop attacking Muslims or interfere in their affairs," the voice said on the tape aired by Dubai-based Al Arabiya and Qatar-based Al Jazeera channels.

Mark's Remarks

First question to John Kerry: Mr. Kerry, if the coalition of the Willing is so fraudulent, why is UBL trying so hard to destroy it? Hmm?

Next, the Europeans need to realize that this is nothing more than a replay of Nazi appeasement. Look to Neville Chamberlain's legacy and see what awaits you if you negotiate with evil.

I hope and pray that Europe does not fall prey a second time to the spirit of appeasement. Last time, it resulted in millions of deaths and massive destruction. Multiply that a few times and that is what is waiting for us if we capitulate with this evil.....

According to the article, the British get it, and the Italians as well. The Germans are saying they will not run from Afghanistan, but who knows? They have been buddies with France for a while, so they may surrender. I am sure Chirac is going to put UBL on speed dial and sue for peace, typical French surrender style.

Don't let evil win! Do not capitulate with butchers. Stay true to the fight for freedom from terror! Now is not the time to go wobbly, Europe.....

Matt's Chat

I prefer to hold my opinion on this until after the tape is authenticated. But I will echo my collegaue's assessment that Old Europe will probably go for this "peace" deal. I don't think the Eastern European countries who survived the Soviet Union are going anywhere though.

At any rate, dealing with terrorists is not a good idea. Give these guys an inch, they'll take you a mile. Every time.
