Economy Update

This is CNN:
Another half million people joined the ranks of the world's millionaires last year, swelling their numbers to 7.7 million, according to the 2004 World Wealth Report.

The survey, released Tuesday by business consultants Capgemini and investment bank Merrill Lynch, found the total global wealth of these high net worth individuals (HNWIs) climbed 7.7 percent to $28.8 trillion.

The survey said the number of millionaires in the United States stood at 2,270,000 at the end of 2003, up 13.5 percent or a net 272,000 compared with the previous year. Their total wealth was $8.5 trillion.
