Interesting Take on Reagan

From NRO's The Corner:
PHOOEY ON FOUHY [Tim Graham]

AP's Beth Fouhy joins the major newspapers today who run "and now for the liberals who hate Reagan" slate of stories. It's a real nostalgia trip of Reagan-era bias, like this sentence: "Elected on a promise to slash taxes and crack down on freeloading 'welfare queens,' Reagan depicted government as wasteful and minimized its capacity to help people, ideas that survive today."

Matt's Chat

I really don't have a problem with any of that...

4:00PM Update

Let me expound on that a bit:
Elected on a promise to slash taxes...
Which he did.
...and crack down on freeloading 'welfare queens,'...
Which he tried.
...Reagan depicted government as wasteful...
Which it is.
...and minimized its capacity to help people,...
Which it hasn't.
...ideas that survive today."
And thank GOD for that...

Mark's Remarks

I know what Reagan would say to these people who would attempt to distort his work and to smear him (people like Rall, Garofalo, Franken, Rather, Stephanopolos). He would say, well, there they go again. Let them have their opinions. History will judge Reagan as one of the great Presidents, and already is.
