The Odds on Bush

A Canadian has gambled $110,000 US that President George W. Bush will win re-election in November, the largest wager Ladbrokes bookmakers has ever taken on an American vote, it said Friday.
Ladbrokes placed odds of 8 to 11 on a Bush victory, meaning bookies think the Republican president is slightly more likely to win than his Democratic opponent, U.S. Senator John Kerry.
If Bush wins, the bettor will get his money back plus $80,000 US. The size of the bet prompted Ladbrokes to boost its odds on a Bush re-election from the previous 4 to 6, it said. The odds on a Kerry victory are 11 to 10.
