"Rise, Let Us Be on Our Way"

From the New York Daily News:
He's bigger than Bill Clinton ever dreamed, but his publishing plans are far quieter.

When Pope John Paul II's "Rise, Let Us Be on Our Way" is released Sept. 28, he'll do no "60 Minutes" interview or a sitdown with Oprah Winfrey to promote his priestly memoir and reflections on faith.

There'll also be no giant book party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or sidewalk-jamming author signing at Barnes & Noble.
...
The pope's reflections on faith come amid recollections of his 20 years as a bishop and archbishop in the town of Krakow, Poland, before his election as pontiff in 1978.

"He recalls how the Polish priests supported each other and how he had to stand up to the Communist regime," Time Warner Book Group president Maureen Egen said. "Those 20 years shaped his view of the bishop's role in the church, and how a bishop needs to interact with his flock," Egen added.

The publisher said she expected this section to be read closely in the United States.

Matt's Chat

Yes, I'm curious to read how he came up with the idea that bishops should cover up sex scandals. (sarcasm)Definately on my "Must Read" list...(/sarcasm)
