UNSCAM Update

From the Middle East/North Africa Financial Network:
An independent investigation of the United Nations' controversial Iraq oil-for-food program is close to releasing an interim report this summer that is expected to focus on U.N. staff involvement in the program.
But critics and supporters of the United Nations will likely have to wait about a year before the three-member committee releases its findings to the public on a wide array of allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the massive program.

Matt's Chat

The UN committee investigating (headed by Paul Volcker) isn't commenting on the recent Chalabi raid...interesting... But the BIG news is that there is an investigation ongoing to expose the level of UN staff involvement in UNSCAM. That is a major development in the case.

Mark's Remarks

Yes, but will it do what it is supposed to do, or will it be a whitewash for the UN, much the same way the 9/11 panel has been a whitewash for the Clinton administration, such as Gorelick, Clarke, and co.?

I hope they find the goods on Kofi and Son and that the media reports it. The media loves the UN, because it is the closest thing to a functioning politburo they can cover since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and it is bent on hating America first. Lib reporters love that stuff, so they love the UN. However, if we expose that the UN has no clothes, so to speak, that they are more corrupt than compassionate, then that will go a long way in setting about change to get a real and functioning body together.
