Update: Terrorism Is On The Rise Not Decline

This is CNN:
The U.S. government acknowledged Thursday that a recent report declaring a decline in terrorism in 2003 was wrong.

The report, released in April and touted by top administration officials as a sign of the success of the war on terrorism, was based on faulty data, said State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.

In fact, he told reporters, the corrected report will show "a sharp increase over the previous year." The corrected version is not yet completed, he said.

Matt's Chat

We were taken in by this as well. We reported these numbers here and mentioned them on the show as well. I felt it was important for us to point out the error.

Mark's Remarks

It is important, however, to point out the context of the past year. We grow closer to a handover in Iraq, and we knew this would happen, especially since our own media is aiding and abetting the cause of terror. If you encourage them with pro-terror coverage, then you will get a rise in terror...to test our resolve. Therefore, this expains the rise in terror.
