By Matt Hurley for the TIB Network:
POPE John Paul II today appointed a bishop to probe a sex scandal at a Roman Catholic seminary near Vienna that has rocked the church and prompted calls for the removal of a leading Austrian cleric.
The Vatican said that the pope had named Klaus Kueng, the bishop of Feldkirch, as apostolic visitor, or papal investigator, for the diocese of St Poelten and "for the seminary of St Poelten in particular".
The pope acted after a student priest was charged with possessing some 10,000 pornographic photographs, many showing sex with minors, and Austrian newspapers splashed pictures of students and teachers at the seminary fondling and kissing.
Bishop Kueng told the local news agency APA he would start his investigation at the seminary today.
"I face a delicate and difficult task. We cannot shock the trust that the faithful place in the church and the pope," he said.

Well, it is a start...but this problem is a bit bigger than just Austria.
