The San Francisco Chronicle and the LA Times reports that the President is preparing to deliver remarks and executive orders on revamping out intelligence services.
As much as I would like to think there will be sweeping changes, I don't expect the President will change all that much. I do not anticipate he'll want a Secretary of Intelligence or a National Intelligence Director (or whatever they're calling those positions these days) Although the NID post has more of a chance than the cabinet-level post. I just don't forsee any Senate-confirmable posts being overly useful.
I would much rather see an MI-5 type organization created using the best elements of both the CIA and the FBI. The FBI should remain a law enforcement body and the CIA has plenty of work to do on foreign threat assessment. Honestly, some sort of domestic Op-Center works for me.
