Hannity & Colmes had on Mary Anne Marsh, a Democratic strategist, to debate with National Review's Jay Nordlinger. As the discussion heats up, Mary Anne goes off the deep end.
Ms. Marsh actually says that President Bush "betrayed the country" because he didn't serve in Vietnam. Pardon my French, but WTF?! This crap is coming from a strategist from the party who put up a draft dodger (that's Bill Clinton for you hamsters out there) and rolled out John Kerry to silence the criticism by saying that whether or not a man served doesn't matter. Now, President Bush betrayed the country because he served in the Texas Air National Guard and his unit wasn't called to go to war.
When called on it, she wouldn't admit that she was being outrageous and out of line.
OUTRAGEOUS! My roommate will attest that I was screaming obscenities at the television. I had to turn it off and eat a bowl of ice cream and think thoughts of my "happy place" (whatever that is).
That is the state of debate in this country. And we have the loonatic left to thank for it. Go ahead, disagree with me if you want. I have officially stopped caring...
8/24 Update
Jeff Goldstein of Protein Wisdom witnessed this as well and has related thoughts.
Ed Driscoll thinks this is the sort of rhetoric that will turn off reservists. I couldn't agree more. It just isn't the kind of language you want to use in "enemy" territory during an election cycle.
