By Matt for the TIB Network:
Just in case you are scoring at home, what you are about to read is a bit of he-said-she-said-she-said-he-said.John Kerry in last night's debate:
We're all God's children, Bob. And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as.Which ticked off Mrs. Lynne Cheney:
I think if you talk to anybody, it's not choice. I've met people who struggled with this for years, people who were in a marriage because they were living a sort of convention, and they struggled with it.
And I've met wives who are supportive of their husbands or vice versa when they finally sort of broke out and allowed themselves to live who they were, who they felt God had made them.
I think we have to respect that.
"The only thing I can conclude is he is not a good man. I'm speaking as a mom," she said. "What a cheap and tawdry political trick."Which got Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards bothered:
"I think that [Mrs. Cheney's complaint] indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences."And finally, Chad and Phil released this statement from John Kerry today:
"I love my daughters. They love their daughter. I was trying to say something positive about the way strong families deal with this issue."Get all that?

Look, I can remember folks taking shots at little Chelsea (not me, I'll get a little bit of ribbing for this, but I kinda liked her), but making a candidate's daughter's sexual preference is WAY OUT OF BOUNDS. WAY. Instead of issuing statements, Mrs. Edwards and Mr. Kerry should be issuing apologies.Mrs. Edwards is not a credible person to diagnose whether or not someone is "ashamed" of anything. Unless of course, she has her husband's Gift of Healing. And John Kerry should just be ashamed of himself.
