Kerry: Terrorism Should Be A Nuisance

By Matt for the TIB Network:

This is CNN:
In the [New York Times M]agazine article, a largely analytical cover story by Matt Bai, Kerry is asked "what it would take for Americans to feel safe again."

"We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance," the article states as the Massachusetts senator's reply.

"As a former law enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life."

Matt's Chat

With all due respect, Senator, the goal IS to eliminate prostitution, organized crime, AND terrorism. The fact that you don't get that is very telling. You call it nuance if you want, but a guy who doesn't have the ability to fathom a world without evil, let alone fight for it, is not fit to be President of the United States.

Reductions are all fine and good, but I'm not interested in voting for a guy who thinks it is okay if terrorism is "reduced" to a nuisance. It isn't a nuisance if you are a victim...we need leadership that will actively engage this problem until it is fixed. We do not need a wishy-washy Taxachusetts liberal who can't figure out that Islamofascists want to kill all of us.

Mark's Remarks

This typifies the misunderstanding of the problems of terrorism by the Left. They think terrorism can be tolerated, a 'not in our backyard' mentality. I guess Kerry considered the attacks on the Cole, Khobar Towers, the First Trade Center bombing mere nuisances. Tell that to the families that lost loved ones, and the shattered lives. Mr. Kerry drastically misunderstands the issue of terrorism if he thinks it is acceptable to reduce it to mere nuisance. And it shows the defeatist attitude of the Left. Let's just learn to live with it. I say get rid of it!

And, what I love in this article is the elitism expressed by the reporters. There is a line in the article that talks about Kerry's 'vision' for the MidEast being so forward thinking and amazing, but he has problems conveying it to the (common) people. See, what the reporter is saying is that, man, Johnny boy is so smart, it is just sad people are so stupid in this country that they cannot understand his bold vision. Give me a break...Kerry has no vision other than appeasement and defeatism....

John Kerry Delenda Est!
