The man investigators said beat his 25-year-old girlfriend on Christmas morning was booked on suspicion of murder Sunday because the 18-week- old fetus she was carrying died, police said.
Police arrested Clifford Watkins, 44, on suspicion of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon after the alleged beating, which occurred in a room at Capitol Hill Inn on Monterey Highway in San Jose.
His girlfriend, whom police would not identify, remained hospitalized in serious condition at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The fetus, a male, was stillborn early Sunday.
One wonders what the official position of the womyn's movement is...will they condone the beating of a wife in order to say killing the fetus was no big deal?
