Time to Pull Out Update

From WPBF News:
The FBI said the number of murders dropped by nearly 6 percent in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year.

That preliminary figure indicates that a four-year increase in murders may be ending.

The national crime rate has dropped to record lows in recent years, but the number of murders has been rising steadily since reaching a low point in 1999. The number crept up from about 15,500 homicides that year to more than 16,500 last year.

Violent crime overall was down 2 percent during the first six months of this year. Violent crime includes murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

The final report for all of 2004 will be released next fall.
