Ralph Nader has a piece out in which he blasts President Bush for continuing his "vacation" in Crawford, TX instead of rushing back to the White House in Washington DC to do...what? What could the President have done in DC about tsunami relief that he couldn't do in Crawford?(cricket)
(cricket - cricket)
But here is the real news that you aren't hearing about:
"I think a lot of people are asking exactly why you waited three days on vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, before you decided to fly back to New York in the face of this extraordinary crisis," Hunt asked during a Thursday press conference in New York.Wow, this reporter is really worked up...good for him giving President Bush the business...
"Could you give us a full explanation of your thinking on that?" Hunt continued. "Secondly, what kind of signal does that 72-hour delay send to the nations to which you are now appealing for greater help?"
What?
The reporter isn't talking to President Bush? Well, who is he talking to then?
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
And just how did the esteemed ruler of the world react?
"First of all, there was action. It wasn't inaction. We live in a world where you can operate from wherever you are . . . You don't have to be physically here to be dealing with the leaders and the governments I have been dealing with. You don't have to be physically here to be discussing with some of the agencies that we have done."Hmm...well, that seems good enough for Annan. Why isn't that good enough for Bush?
The angry Secretary General then barked, "I don't have to be sitting in my office to take action. I think the same goes for you in your profession."
And for the record lefties, Annan came back to his "seat of power" AFTER Bush did...
I'm just saying...
