Maybe If We Gave Them Pacifiers....

Reid Ups AnteSenate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) threatened to stall the Senate over what he called an abuse of power, namely, the changing of the rules to allow an up or down vote, rather than a supermajority of votes, to confirm judicial appointments. The Democrats have been obstructing nominees for the last 4 years, and show no signs of stoppind despite losing seats and prestige for their perception as standing in the way of progress.

Try getting this message inside the bubble of liberal politicians. They still think they are fighting evil oppression. NEWSFLASH!!! There is no right to fillibuster judges listed in the Constitution. In fact, the Constitution lists ONLY 7 instances when a supermajority is needed. Confirming judges is NOT one of them. Changing the standing rules is the perogative of the party in power and has been since the founding of the nation. Of course, it does not matter that the Left has changed rules to exert influence in the past. Heck no, only Democrats can do that... Republicans better not...because...they are Republican....

This crying and moaning now threatens the People's business. Rather than working to get things done, Reid and Co. are threatening to bring the wheels of government to a halt, and for what? It is not like we are talking about doing away with fillibusters entirely, as has been portrayed by the MSM. Not true at all. Rather, we are talking about allowing a simple up or down vote, rather than a supermajority call for a vote, to approve judges. This is perfectly Constitutional. But wait, liberals cannot see what is blatantly in the Constitution, they can only see what evolves.

Reid and company are suffering from sour grapes. They are whining because they thought they were going to kill in this last election. They thought Kerry would be the President and they would take back Congress. However, the majority of Americans were smarter than the liberals. They saw through the hype and lies and misrepresentations. They were looking for ideas and leaders, not cronies and obstructionists. They were looking for people with vision, not crybabies whining like infants. Maybe we should give Harry a pacifier and he will play nice????
