I want to just speak sort of seriously and lower the temperature just a minute. Because when we leave here, when Pat and I leave to go back to the Senate to vote, and when all of you leave after hearing all this passionate, incredible speaking from people who I admire so much, we have our work cut out for us.
Translation: I have to continue to wear fake conservative clothing, so don't turn on me when I act like I am against this fillibuster. It is all so I can be queen of the universe in 2008.
The best way to prevent the Republican majority and the White House from going nuclear on our courts and undermining our American system of checks and balances, is to prevent this vote from ever happening in the first place. And to do that, we have to persuade a handful of Republicans that this is not what they signed up for. You know, I serve with a lot of Republican Senators with whom I have worked. Some much to my amazement, to tell you the truth, that I am working with, on issues that are important to New York and America. I know that a number of them have serious doubts about the wisdom of this. They know kinda deep down in their gut this is not a good thing to do. To upend the way the Senate has operated, just because you can for sheer political power? For partisan advantage? To basically end minority rights? To go ahead and consign Mr. Smith Goes To Washington to the dustbin of history? they know that what goes around comes around. And this cannot be good for either party, just as it is not good for the institution of the Senate or our country.
Here is the part where Duane equates her with Satan at Gethsemane, saying that no one can take on the sin of the world, that this is not what they signed up for....And we see the same language from HillRod. Notice the condescension. "Shockingly, I am working with Republicans who actually care about the country." Come on now. And again, we get the Mr. Smith Goes to Washington LIE! No one is talking about changing the Constitution, aside from Barbara Boxer and your like, HillRod. Come on now. Quit misleading the American people. Also, notice how she is danglind out carrots of "acceptance" to moderate republicans, seeking to fracture the majority....how snakelike, how Clinton!!!!!
I would ask you to reach out to some of these Republican Senators, especially ones who've been there for a while. You know, some of the impetus behind this unfortunately is coming from some of the newer Republican members who don't yet see that there's a Constitutional, profound reason for us to have a difference between the way the House of Representatives is run, and the way the Senate is run. Now, some people say well, the Senate can be frustrating. Well, I know that. I know that from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, how frustrating it can be, obviously.
Here is a slap at Mr. Thune from South Dakota and the other young Republican Senators, those whose platform was getting judges nominated and confirmed. She is also appealing to elder REpublican RINOs like DeWine and Specter. How shameful. Then she acts like she has so much more experience....Hello, HillRod! You have only won one race, in a handpicked state, not even your own state....And your experience at the other end of PA Ave consisted mostly of theft, shredding documents, firing people, trashing the military, and seeking to communize the healthcare system, not to mention trashing housewives....
