Our good friend Mahatma has an excellent piece on health care that I am recommending to all of our readers.
Mahatma identifies the problems, but I think he misunderstand the position of fellow conservatives. I think it is important to pick one of the problems that effects at least one of the others and attack it as a starting point. For me, that's the frivilous lawsuits; which would effect the liability insurance rates for the doctors. Once that situation stabilizes, the private health care industry can tackle some of the other issues Mahatma identified. But you have to start somewhere...and if you, like me, think a private system is a much better solution than a nationalized government beauracracy, you can't ignore or belittle the financial matters that the industry faces.
