First, Ohio's maverick agency investment policies, which are not unique to BWC, must finally be brought under control. Investments should be under the watchful, professional eye of the state treasurer's office, and must be subject to strict, clear investment guidelines to maximize safety. This I can entirely agree with in whole. We entrust our politicians to act in our best interests. Clearly, there is some fire with all this smoke...
Second, the Noe political contribution/state contract connection is just the tip of the iceberg. There are possibly hundreds of similar situations throughout state government - about 50 other brokers connected with BWC alone, reports say. The growing impression is that Ohio has become a "pay-to-play" state under GOP domination - give campaign funds, get a state contract or legislation to your liking. This "pay to play" meme that the Democrats are trying to sell is just too generic to be believed. And I am amazed that the Enquirer would even bother to make such a claim.
But this got me thinking about the people that are inviolved in this nonsense. They are all "maverick" moderates. They are all about winning elections and the Big Tent. They talk the talk about values and principles when it is election time, but fail to walk the walk once they get our vote.
We must reclaim our state party. The battle is already underway...which side will you choose?
