OUTRAGE: Air Force Academy Counselor Ordered to Turn Over Rape Case Notes

With a hat tip to Col. David Hunt (and a special thanks to his research assistant, Chris!), I present our readership with this outrage as reported by CourtTV:
An arrest warrant has been issued for a rape counselor who refused to turn over records of her sessions with a former Air Force Academy cadet, one of the women whose allegations touched off a scandal that toppled the academy's top leaders.

Jennifer Bier is fighting a subpoena in the court-martial of airman Joseph Harding, who is accused of sexually assaulting two women at the academy in 1999 and 2000. His attorneys say their client's right to a fair trial overrides the alleged victim's right to privacy.

Bier said Saturday she was shocked and angry that she was being forced to chose between betraying her client's trust and being arrested.

"It's my position as a therapist that you can't betray your client," she said. "For me to betray a client renders my whole field null and void and I refuse to do that."
So, let's recap, shall we: the Air Force Academy has had 56 women report they had been raped by male cadets in the last 15 years and they arrest the therapist that the victims are sent to talk to...

We are asking women to stand up and defend this country and we aren't supporting them when they need it the most. That is a disgrace. I come from an Air Force town and I couldn't be more ashamed or embarrassed. This is a travesty and the Air Force should do the right thing immediately.

The Air Force core values are "Integrity first. Service Before Self. And Excellence in All We Do." I don't see anything in there about arresting civilians for protecting the victim of a crime. I don't see anything remotely close that would make this acceptable.
