Bias in Economic Reporting

Speaking of BizzyBlog, I had been meaning to ask him what he thought of all the good economic news being cast in a negative manner. I should have known that Tom already had that covered...be sure to check out his earlier post about the origins of the bias, too.

Mark's Remarks

As usual, Tom delivers the goods. I think the media is refusing to really cover it and sound it out because it goes against what they have been reporting, and the Big Media is afraid of losing its reputation. However, instead of ACTUALLY CHANGING AND REPORTING THE FACTS, they just ignore everything that does not go with their preconceived template. For example, has anyone heard that because of the tax breaks, government revenues went up (due to higher investment leading to more wealth leading to more money) and helped us pay some into the debt? Probably not. Why? Because Big Media wants you to seriously believe, having been co-opted by the Left, that this is the worst economy since the Great Depression, when in reality it is not.

7/19 Update

Tom has a post that gives us a pause on the whole deficit reduction thing. Basically, it is a warning that while the increased revenue did, in fact, bring the deficit down, there is still a whole lot of work to do. He also points out that the deficit is actually higher than reported anyway. Get all the details here and hereas he's the expert blogger on these kinds of matters.
