Former candidate Eric Minamyer recently used his blog to rip into Congressional hopeful Paul Hackett. It's worth noting that both Minamyer and Hackett tout themselves as Iraqi War veterans, but other than that they don't seem to have much to base a polite conversation on. This is part of what Minamyer had to say:
I take great exception to Major Hackett for his statement that Osama Bin Laden is less of a threat to America than President Bush. He should realize these inflammatory statements are used by the terrorist to recruit and encourage their troops. Some Marine somewhere could die because of what Hackett said and he should be ashamed.
As a member of the staff at Central Command I was in a far better position to know what we accomplished than a major in a single unit, especially if that major does not speak Arabic as I do. Hackett should stop spreading the lie that training of Iraqis is not a sincere effort. It is more difficult to train an army that has no present leadership structure than it is to train soldiers to join an existing force. An army needs sergeants and junior officers. These do not just leap from the head of Zeus, Paul.
... This election in August is not a referendum on the war. It is about who best represents the second. It is not a liberal, pro-abortion demagogue. That much is certain.
emphasis added by me...
Wow, I guess the inevitable defeat he is facing against Mean Jean Schmidt is catching up to Paul. He can no longer keep his disguise as a tough moderate Democrat, and feels the need to appeal to the fever swamp vote. Yep, that tact did so much for Mr. Kerry, and is doing so much to grow the Dim party. Keep it up Paul. You all are doing the best job of destroying your own party...Keep it up, buffoon.
